Just a few I also have about 5 BNIB put away . Two are the Anniversary one they made styled after the 50`s I am not good with model #`s because I have too many vacuums : ( lol

Hey Dan - neat line-up you have there!
You should see about rigging up a new cardboard "ceiling" for the box-top bag on the Vanguard.....she looks a little "saggy" where the spring connects to the bag!

Brian , I want to fix it but not sure of the best way . Been busy at work (Realtor) so time is limited until the Holidays approach . Then I will have time to fix it. I am sure I could use cardboard or a piece of plastic. Any suggestions ?

Gosh....I wish I knew of a tried-and-true way to fix the top of the Vanguard's bag.....*thinking*
I guess the trick is to disconnect the spring hanger without ripping any of the gold vinyl and carefully turn the bag inside out to see what material was used originally. Just off the top of my head, I would think the spring's hook needs to be anchored into a solid (yet lightweight) sheet of cardboard cut exactly to the size of the box-top. It's even possible that once you remove what's there now, it might even be a slice of cardboard with 4 drop-down flaps that keep the walls of the box-top nice and square....
Would love to hear from others who may have experience with this kind of "surgery"!!!!

That is an interesting question. I see many box tops sagging.
I wouldn't DARE even if someone payed me, to touch my beloved TOL 1972 Vanguard. I just pulled it out today because its been a few weeks since I have used it. Forgot how much I LOVE it. So quiet and smooth. The bag is gorgeous with the gold patterns.

Easy and appropriate fix:
Cut and sand a piece of 1/4" thick plywood or solid plank, to fit inside and screw an eyebolt through to accept spring.
The original cardboard stiffener will have lost its integrity and if I recall correctly, it is sandwiched & sealed inside the vinyl jacket.
