how much in U.S?

looks really good..i dont know much about shampooers...so tell me more about what makes this one your best choice..does the bissell pro heat compare?

In $

I think its roughly $240-250

Considering our version comes with a 6 year courier guarantee quite cheap lol :).

To rent a Rug Doctor for 24 hours over here is £20-£25 so $30-35 approx- so thats not even 10 24hr rentals-plus I bet this will clean as well and you wont have to worry about what the previous hirer has cleaned!

Seamus

P.S I wouldnt touch a Bissell with a VERY long pole- where I work we were a service agent for them so believe me I know what a bit@h they are to work on and how many problems they are prone to with their pumps etc. I also HATE the "bladder" arrangement for the clean water.

Bissell

They don't have very efficient suction, do they?

And the capacity of the tank leaves a lot to be desired.

(...I should have stuck with ye olde Hoover 'Aquamaster'...grumble, moan, etc...)

i had read that the pro heat and its brushroll were really good, thats all i know of them. it looks as if the one you bought could really out do most.wish we carried it.nice choice

the hoover spin scrub shampooer/steam vac at $209.00 is the only thing we carry at the shop i work at...we also use them as rental units...all seem to like them and they sell well....im just open to all opinions/prefrences.

i agree about the rug doctors..or any rental unit....even ours.. you can only clean them so well.but heard the doctors were hard to beat....and a a small fortune to own.

That's a good price for the Dual V All Terrain Seamus, but I decided against that model as Which? said it left the carpet quite wet.

Here's the summary:

Innovation in design is the order of the day for this upright model from Vax that can be used on both carpets and hard floors such as lino and tiles.

Like other carpet washers, it uses powered brushes to clean your carpet and comes with a hand-held brush for upholstery. But rather than a roller which rotates to shift dirt, Vax's 'spin-scrub' brushes spin rapidly to mix in detergent and remove dirt and stains.

Carpet cleaning is very good, with floors looking great afterwards. The difference between this Vax and our Best Buys is the amount of water left on carpets after washing - this washer leaves carpets noticeably wetter than Best Buys. You can choose the cleaning setting that's right for your carpet but, like other upright washers, this Vax isn't as effective against dried on stains.

Water is heated by the cleaner itself, so you can fill it with cold water from the tap. However, there is no hard-floor attachment, and the water tank is halfway up the main body of the washer, making it difficult to push and pull when in use.

The power cord is long enough for you to be able to use the Vax 9.7 metres away from the mains socket, and the hose can be extended to 2.5 metres. It weighs 15.4kg when fully loaded with almost four litres of water.

Pros: Effective wet carpet cleaning, ease to use, powered brushes, built-in water heater, can be used on hard floors

Cons: Heavy, quite noisy, carpet wetness after washing

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I expect this model is discontinued as the smaller version must have sold more and it is a Which? best buy.

Saying that, there are a couple of errors in the Which? report.
It doesn't heat the water, it directs the exhaust air onto the carpet which is supposed to raise the temperature of the cleaning area. Also the report says there is no hard floor attachment (which there is), yet it says it can be used on hard floors!

My Mum has a Bissell Pro Heat 2X which does a good job of cleaning, but leaves the carpet quite wet. I went over with my Vax V-124 and removed considerably more water.

Please let us know how you get on with your new Vax.

Other Which? Report mistakes:

- The Hoover Freedom Allergy Care Plus+ gets 4 out of 5 stars for laminate cleaning, while the Freedom Pets gets 3 out of 5. Performance should be identical, because these are basically exactly the same cleaner!

- The Dyson DC07 is criticised in the summary - 'The DC07 vac puts in an excellent cleaning performance, but lets too much dust escape through its exhaust.' Yet it gets 5 out of 5 stars for allergen rentention, and their pros list says 'very good at retaining allergens'! Do Which? count dust and allergens as separate things?

- A 3-star rating is variously described as 'good', 'poor', 'acceptable', 'mediorcre', etc...

Which?

They also say that the Sebo K1 Pet has no cable wind up mechanism. Not true.

I guess we could spend hours pointing out the errors in Which? reports.

Vax - We Love Clean!

Congrats, guys - you've certainly bought the best! ;)

My Dual-V's had a heck of a lot of use, and it's still working wonderfully! I just used it yesterday to do my aunt and uncle's dining room carpet, and they were so pleased with the results, they've enlisted my services to do the rest of the ground floor while they're on holiday next week!

Grr!!

Hey Guys

Today was the 10th working day and still no sign :(. I phoned customer services and there had been a problem with my order- the guy didnt know what but it should be with me in the next few days.

Maybe I should have asked for some free detergent to make up for the delay lol.

Will let everyone know when it (eventually) gets here!
