400 vacs for sale during the Convention in June

VacuumLand – Vintage & Modern Vacuum Enthusiasts

Help Support VacuumLand:

Mark,

you and I are in the same boat as for having anyone interested in hours of vacuums or appliances.
The upside of that is when we need anything new, from a car to an appliance, I get to pick it out being the more knowledgable one.

The convention is this coming Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. So many people are coming, can't wait for Saturday's Hawaiian Banquet at my home. It's the perfect ending to a convention. Pulled Pork Sliders, Honey Baked Ham studded with cloves and pineapples, macaroni salad, potato salad, fruit salad, homemade Pineapple Upside Down Cake, and "Hippie Juice" (a blend of pineapple vodka, triple sec, coconut rum, strawberries, and 7-up. Several of the Vacuum Cleaner Collectors have volunteered to help on the last day, with the cooking.

The Convention is always the second weekend in June, held at the Vacuum Cleaner Museum in St. James. There's NO registration fee, no 'banquet fee', no 'membership fee'. I absorb the cost of the banquet each year (it's fun to cook for my friends). The Vacuum Cleaner Collectors only have to get themselves to St. James and they have their lodging costs.

Pictures of the festivities will be forthcoming. The Tacony Factory tour is always a blast - this year we're going to be testing vintage vacuums in the Testing Labs in the Factory.

hotels

Wonder which hotel is better, I went with the one in Rolla since that was the first one that was mentioned, regarding the hard floors, would be interesting to try the hard floor attachments I'm bringing with some older canisters, going to bring the RD 285, the Turn and Clean, and if I can carry it, the side winder.

Still wish I could come!

But school is still in session in New York!
I would like to come in July, but it looks like I'll miss the big "clear-out." Oh well.

anyone else staying at the Rolla hotel?

Hey everyone, I should be arriving Wednseday evening, I was wondering if anyone was staying at the super 8, and if so, would anyone be interested in getting together tomorrow night at the hotel, maybe just for a quick intro.

I know Luke and Bill are staying there, along with several others. Most people are arriving very late Wednesday, or they are arriving Thursday morning. Send me an email (dysonman1 at Hotmail dot com) with your phone number and I'll text you about who has arrived. Generally, people get together informally the evening before the convention. Everyone will be eating in Rolla on Thursday and Friday evenings.

arrival

Hey Tom, I sent you an email with my phone number. Depending on traffic, I should arrive tomorrow evening probably around 7 or 8 or so. Will have to figure out something for breakfast on Thursday, before everything starts. I'm sure folks will bring their cameras in order to take pictures, in my case, I'm going to bring a digital recorder, for me, that's my version of pictures. Hopefully I will get to record the sound of lots of vacuums.

People have already arrived for the convention, a day early. They are taking in the flea markets and antique stores in St. Louis today.

Have to get the power nozzles ready for Rob Shore and Joel Zambrano - both fellows are very interested in early power nozzle technology.

early power nozzles

I remember last year you showed me the power nozzle on the 1960 lady Kenmore, that is one of the quietest power nozzles I have heard, and we can't forget the one that was known for electrocuting people, we could nick name that one the zapper.

Hans!

I know I haven't called you in a while, I had a hard time getting ahold of you due to odd working hours, I think you were asleep most of the afternoons I called, or something, its been a while, and then I lost all of my contacts when a phone I had died (non smartphone) 4 years ago.

Anyway, I hope you don't mind me calling you again. Among other things I want to know what if anything you want that David Watters had, as I still need to get those machines all sorted and out of here.

And lastly, I'm also hoping you still have that box of assorted Kenmore central vac stuff you were saving for me.

Thanks Hans. I will call you as soon as I get a moment. Everyone has begun arriving for the convention already. Robert arrived first, from Quincy Illinois. Joel is here from New Mexico, Luke and Warren are here from Ohio. Mike is here from St. Louis. With many more people arriving this morning.
