How can you get a Hoover Floor Polisher / Shampooer to Shampoo?

You need to fit the shampoo brushes first. These consist of one row of soft brushes that go round the circumference of the head with holes to let the shampoo solution out. Don't attempt to use the scrubbing brushes for carpet as they can cause damage.

The shampoo you need is the stuff that produces a foam, not the solution that modern carpet washers use. 1001 and Vanish used to make high foam shampoo but I'm not sure if they still do. The foaming type of shampoo was designed to dry to crystals that could be vacuumed up once the carpet was dry. To get the dosage right you need to work out the capacity of the tank and then dilute the shampoo according to the instructions on the bottle.

After vacuuming thoroughly, start at the corner of the room furthest away from the door you will be exiting from and slowly move the shampoo polisher over the carpet while releasing the solution making sure you don't over wet the carpet. Clean one section of carpet at a time and repeat until the whole room is done. Try not to walk over the carpet until it is completely dry and then vacuum.

Floor washing is similar but you use the scrubbing brushes with or without the green pads and put a suitable floor cleaner in the tank. The shampoo polisher scrubs floors well so is not suitable for more delicate surfaces and because it doesn't suck up the water like a floor washer, you need to mop the excess water up or use a wet dry vac.

Those pads you describe are the ones that have came with it so I don't have to do anything to release shampoo e.g. it comes out on it's own?

Thanks.

Oh right! Thanks for your help on that but I do own 2 Vaxes (121 & 101) but these are good for rugs & small areas. Thanks again.
