Windsor Versamatic 18

I recently bought a used Windsor versamatic 18 commercial vac. Anyone else familiar with them?
Everything is easily replaceable, and I mean EVERYTHING!

I'm probably going to sell it locally after a while, as it's not my "thing" per se, but was just too cool to pass up! I've always liked the commercial stuff, due to the easy servicibility of it overall.

Versamatics

I found a 14" Versamatic last summer at a garage sale for $2. The brushroll had become stuck in the cavity and it was clogged up. With a little elbow grease, I had it running in no time. All the parts are easy to service, if they ever need to be. These machines are built like tanks. I got the hospital grade filter and use it around the house. I just love mine. It cleans well, feels solid, and is very intelligent.

I've got a Sebo X2, basically a domestic Windsor, and it is probably one of the most easily serviceable vacuums in my collection.

I'm feeling more and more like keeping it, as it is a good vac, and bags from a local vac shop are like $16 for 10, don't know if that's a good deal, but it doesn't sound bad.

I downloaded the service manual online and see how easy it all comes apart, I like the fact the brush strip is replaceable without buying a whole new brushroll.
I like to use my different vacs, but since 99% of the house is nice hard floors, some like my Royals, the Kirbys and the Windsor, don't do well on other than carpet.

I'm guessing Sebo is made by the same company?

Rather the opposite: SEBO of Germany is the home company who produce most of Windsor's upright vacs, Jeyes Diversey and a lot of other brands - it is loosely based on the Sebo 360 and others.

That's the beauty of the Sebo uprights like the commercial range and the X series - everything is replaceable at low cost and you don't need a degree in rocket science to know what to do.

Ry-Ry is probably one of the greatest collectors of the Sebo uprights on here, more than me!

Sebo have since launched this year a new and improved 370 Comfort - the brush roll switches off on that model.

Windsors are great

I own 3 windsors now. Bought an older s15 first, and for almost everything except the part on mine that needs to be replaced is easy to replace. Then I bought a versamatic 14 and it came with a parts machine, because the 1st one didn't work. But I got both of them running with no money in parts. I would really like to own one of those 18's and the automatic adjusting sensors, but for now they may be out of my price range. Unfortunately I haven't taken any pics of my versamatics, because they aren't at my house.

I have a VS14 and I absolutely love it! I retrieved mine for ten dollars from a vacuum "graveyard", works flawlessly!
