Great to hear your keeping it.

I'll second what sebo_fan says about the new synthetic bags. I love them over the paper ones.

I will have to look out for a second hand X series!

Emma what do you think of the built in quick release hose and wand setup?

I only used it briefly to suck up some small plant leaves and it was very easy and handy to just pull the hose up and do what you need to do.

I love the handle on it too, very comfy to hold in my opinion.

Picture time!

After her nice polish and wax. I could of probably left the wax to give it a better shine but I didn't have the time.

As requested ~

Here's the bag. It's mostly hair but even so I'm very impressed by it!

This is after all of downstairs and upstairs. Downstairs hadn't been done for just over a week and same as upstairs, possibly a touch longer. The last machine I used was my 1995 Turbopower 2 U2464.

I need to do the stairs tomorrow too.

God my wrist looks so fat in this picture! Haha. :P

Looking great there Emma, well done!

The brilliant thing about the Sebo bags is that, because they're top fill and coupled with the filter design, you can really pack the bags full so it's like a brick by the time it needs changing. They take MONTHS to fill up on mine.

Good restoration, Emma.

I have an X4 extra, they are ok, I never use it though..As far as I am concerned, I wouldn't pee on it, if it was on fire.

Glad to hear you've had a quick go with the hose/wand. Not many uprights that have a comfy built in wand/handle setup.

You've done a great job Emma it looks fab. Great pictures too. That bag will last a while, and with the top fill and unique side suction it will compact as it fills as Chris says like a brick!! Great design is the side suction setup.

It's amazing how old this design is for SEBO but it continues to sell and people who are new to the brand today love them, as well as existing SEBO owners. Just goes to show simple, effective, intuitive design and engineering stands the test of time.

Well I am a Sebo owner and I hate mine...Bang goes that theory.

I don't like them, don't think it does a good job at cleaning, a bit too tall and commercial looking for my liking.

I am sure many people know my passionate hatred for the on-board computer, so I will not go into that, it might upset someone...Heaven forbid.

No worries, everyone is entitled to their opinions. I agree on the commercial looks, though it's grown on me a bit.

"Might upset some people." Agreed, shame some people have to be so sensitive. Oops,Iv'e probably pissed someone off now!

After Video

Here's an after video. Just in case anyone is interested I plan on doing a video on my thoughts about it on Sunday. Oh also please excuse all the shoes in the video!

Of course, the proof is in the pudding as they say. No one vacuum will work for everyone and everyone's own experience is different. The Sebo works brilliantly for me and always has. That doesn't discredit Alex's experience, but the only way to form your opinion really is try the machine out in your own home and see for yourself.

Keep us posted, Emma. Very much looking forward to hearing your thoughts, both good and bad.

Believe me Seamus I would but it is my mothers, so it just has to stay there cluttering the cupboard.

In my experience the Miele Dynamic U1 is a far superior cleaner to the Sebo X Upright. For best bagless, I would say the DC40, 41. All 3 of these machines I just mentioned have stair hoses and better attachments than the Sebo, in my experience and opinion.

I am sure you people think I say this just to get at you but I am not, that is just my honest opinion.

"I am sure you people think I say this just to get at you but I am not,"

I don't. It doesn't faze me,it's your opinions and views from your experience :). It would be different hadn't you ever used them.

The Miele uprights are being phased out due to low sales. They're great cleaners, but very heavy, expensive on consumables and difficult to repair. For example, the whole motor has to be taken out just to replace the handle release and the cleaner has to be completely dismantled just to remove a blockage.

You don't have that problem with a Sebo. High performance, lightweight in operation (and considerably lighter than the Miele uprights to lift), cheaper on consumbles and everything is easily replaceable at relatively low cost.

I agree the Miele is Heavy and difficult to work on and parts are indeed expensive.

I don't agree the performance of the Sebo is high. I would say it is rather average. Just skims over the carpet...I don't feel that cling and agitation on the Sebo, which I find to be the case when I use my DC40 or Dynamic U1.

Well, as I said, the proof is in the pudding. I'm sure Emma will be able to make up her own mind using the Sebo in her own home. Seems to be doing just fine so far, and leaving nice track marks in the carpet.

The whole idea behind the automatic height adjustment is that it works to the optimum height - the balance between wear to the brushroll, wear to the carpet, performance and ease of use. If it wasn't picking up, the bag would be empty and the carpet would still be dirty, which obviously isn't the case.
