Hope Ryan doesn't mind me using his photo, but.

This is the Turbo Electric head for these Henrys with the standard power head outlet. I beleieve other companies made them as well which worked with these Henrys as the Numatic ones were quite expensive.

Yes they use a different connector

Good find Alex, I have hoped to find an electric turbo nozzle too, but no luck.

My 1999 Henry has the power socket.

Also, my 1999 Henry has the white outline writing, but looking on the thread with the 2001 Argos Catalogues, they have the Red outline writing.

They used the bold writing from 1981 till about 1996/97 and then they used the coloured outline writing, needless to say these uesd a slightly different motor than the earlier 90's models but still had the power head socket and in about 1999 they changed it to the white ouline writing and that used a single speed, single fan, higher pitch (James) type motor with no power nozzel socket, those motors were 1100 watts and in 2004 - present they used the 1200 watt twinflo motors.

The Turbo Electric head shown in the eBay listing won't work with this particular cleaner unfortunately. It's actually intended for use with later Numatics that have the 24 volt power take off system, identifiable by a "figure 8" style socket on the front of the motor unit.

Models with the red socket on the back use a 240 volt power head, something Numatic no longer offers. However, it would be easy to source a suitable head elsewhere. I'm thinking perhaps a Filter Queen power nozzle could be rigged with an adaptor to fit the Henry 32mm tubes, and rewired with the appropriate length of cable and a plug to fit this machine.

A Vorwerk power nozzle could probably be made to work as well. If you search eBay Germany there are adaptors available which convert Vorwerk fittings to accommodate standard round tubes. After a little creative (but safe, please) wiring, you'd have a great power head that would match your green Henry quite nicely. Vorwerk bits and pieces are as common as dirt in Germany, and therefore tend to be rather cheap even with postage.

In my link you can read all about Numatic. It says the Chard factory was acquired in 1990. It does not say when production at Beaminster ended. I imagine that it was a gradual process as the two sites are not that far from each other.

I think the green Henry in this discussion must be one of the first to have the square opening for the mains lead to leave the cleaner. Prior to this, the hole was rectangular, running top-to-bottom down the hood of the motor. The moulded 13amp plug on this cleaner was also a very new style for 1993.

The power heads utilising the power take off on the earlier Henry's are very effective (I have one for one of mine). They're better than the air-driven ones you can get now (which are themselves good).
The only thing I would say is find them slightly clumsy to use, so I tend to treat it a something to use every so often rather than all the time.
Cheers
Dave

Joe - It is, yeah, I like those sharp, crisp, snaps when you switch it between on and off.

Benny - Thanks for the info, I forgot that Numatic had the history section on their website.

Rutger - Sorry, I hope this doesn't offend you or anyone else but every time I glance at your username, I keep thinking it says rug muncher, lol! Thanks though! :D

I know i've posted pics of my Henry a million times but I love it, 23 years old and still working as well as it did the day I got it new.

You can't beat old Henrys for reliability and ease of use, I don't find the standard floor tool that bad on carpets to be honest but the original Turbo Electric head is fantastic.
