So im going to be taking my aunt's old rainbow apart because it's very loud and has an awful vibration to the point where is vibrates the wheel dolly off if you pick it up. When she bought her e series in 02 the dealer took it and she said this is how it came back. Im thinking its the bearings but when you turn the separator by hand its smooth and quiet. So that got me thinking maybe he got the fans in backwards or didn't get them tight because to me it feels like its not at full suction. Doubt the fan are that dirty cause it hasnt been used much at all. Aside from the fans being in wrong, fan holes bigger than normal, or bad bearings is there anything else I need to be on the look out for?

It definitely was the bearings. I pulled the one from my se to test it before i had her order them. Theres still a vibration and ive traced it to the separator. Without it no vibration. Is that the nature of the 45 degree slats in the separator. I like to upgrade and separator but i cant find a spider and im not sure how much money shes willing to put into it. Pic of it all cleaned up and waiting for new bearing. This rainbow was a part of my childhood. At the time she was the only person that i knew that had one and i couldnt wait to go stay in the summer and use it

Anyone know why the old style d4 separator would cause vibration? Bearings helped but there is still a vibration. Visually separator looks fine, take it off and run it on an empty water pan no vibration. Im stumped?

The

Fans could be off balanced and it's causing the separator problem. I've only tore apart this series of rainbows but never reassembled
The e series 2 speeds I've done quite a few. The issues I've had were the bearings and I never mess with the fans as I've read they never should be messed with.

Electroluxxxx

I would caution you against dealing with Cassie, Maytag142C. Beware this person is transitioning from a male, formerly known as Michael Gravelin, Electroluxxxx, to a female, hence her new username. This individual is known to keep poor company in the vacuum collecting community and is NOT to be trusted! Unless you want to be ripped off that is....

Robert…

You do not know me and have no business outting me or deadnaming me. That is extreme poor character and extremely triggering. How extremely inappropriate, disrespectful and disgusting. People have more good to say about me than they do you.

Btw… nobody has ever been ripped off by me nor have I kept poor company. Get your facts straight.

I think I figured it out. The d4 with angled separator slats used a very specific nut with a ridge on the back side. Apparently in 02 the dealer put an se nut with the flat back side on it. Pics shows difference in se vs d4 separator nuts. Is the bottom part of the separator supposed to be slightly pulled in toward the spider?
