I have never seen this upright before except maybe in a catalog once. I know is part of the 1985 1986 line, not only does it have a cord reel, and is it self propelled, and have dual head lights, and the mock box top bag and top filling bags.....

But it also has the very rare variable speed control! I have only seen two others on here, that have that same control, but neither were even self Propelled. So needless to say, this must have been a fairly costly machine new! I also have a pic of this machine with Tony Danza from Who's The Boss...So it is also a T.V. Vacuum too...

Feast your eyes! P.S. The blue and grey model sitting next to it, is also from the same line, notice the same bag pattern just in blue instead of the cranberry color.

Beauty!

I'll admit...I'm a canister vac fan for the most part.
But that is a nice looking machine!
Plus, I don't know if I'm in the minority here, but I do have a fondness for Sears stuff.
I will feel bad when their seemingly inevitable demise occurs.

It's also neat to see it next to the similar, but not as heavily optioned version.

Actually.....

Huskyvacs, its not push button. The speed on off is the two way slide switch on the back of the handle, and the speed control on the front of the handle is not push button, but a slide, much like the TOL Kenmore canisters from the early 90s. You slide the tab up or down to increase or decrease the speed of the motor.

The machine is rated at 6.5amps, usually the rating is based on the highest speed, or most power that a machine draws, in cases like this. So when it is all the way down on its slowest speed position it is VERY quiet! I am guessing with the variable speed control in the lowest most position, it probably is only about 3 amps. The Singer and Kenmore twin fans from the 60's weren't 3 amps, most of those were 4 and 5 amps...so that is incredible really!

I will take a close up picture of the speed control so you and others can really see what it looks like.

That's really cool, never seen a variable speed twin fan. Yeah, I bet it's the quietest Twin Fan ever on low.

Also....

Here it is in the 1985 Catalog. I can't believe it was over $300.00! The blue one is the one it is sitting next to in the 3rd picture of my first post.

Thespiritof76, very nice Kenmore u got there!!! Twin fan vacuums are really cool! Didn’t came with attachments when Sears sold the same model u have? Just curious.

Rolls Rapide,

The motor in this Twin Fan upright is seated sideways with one fan on each side of the motor. One side also has the brush roll belt.

This revolutionary configuration made its debut way back in the 1950’s with Raymond Loewy’s redesign of an upright cleaner for the Singer Company. Before that design, most uprights in North America had a single fan facing downward or facing forward like the Kirby.

The revolutionary Singer Twin Fan went through some design changes over the years, but kept the sideways motor with two fans on either side. Singer also produced these kind of uprights for Sears Kenmore, Lewyt and Sunbeam.

Thespiritof76, never mind I was looking closely at the catalog and it does come with tools. I missed that part.
