Lux's from my 20 something years'

Hi Doug/Chaps, Only at the weekend a friend and I were praising the 350E...It cost @ £70 sterling over here ? the competitors were the Rowenta, slightly higher priced; similar build quality and then there was the Miele range at the exhorbitant £140.00 range...if my memory is correct, perhaps Mike can confirm ?
Luckily Lux UK were still equiping their cleaners with the 1960 two-way upholstery nozzle and crevice tool. I think the 350E was even issued with a crevice brush ?

On the subject of old brochures; I took last Thursday afternoon off to ebay for two early 60's Lux leafletts - 64 & 65, they'd disappeared......so when we went out shopping I had to buy a box of cream cakes to calm my nerves !!

By the way Doug my friend thinks he may just have a 90 floor/carpet tool.

Regards, Walter.

What On Earth?

I've always known that a really fine British housekeeper can bring to the job all the ceremony, pomp and intricacy of the Queen opening Parliament- and I say that with the utmost respect and affection for all our friends in the UK.

But how on earth does one use a cleaner's blowing outlet to air carpets? And why? Don't British carpets air themselves when the windows are opened?

Enquiring provincials want to know! ;-)

Remember a month or two back I found that woven hose in prime primo condition and wondered what machine it went for then saw it was for a UK Elux, the brown cylinder type. Well yesterday I was chatting with next door neighbor during spring yard cleanup and went in her garage to look at the hard to close door and guess what was sitting there they use for cleaning the car but that brown Dometic vac..Now I have to try and persuade them to let me have it LOL

Hey Pete:

Nice find - dont forget to see if she had the power head for it. Let me know if you get the machine. I have the instruction booklet that I can scan for you.

brochures

I would love to make my own brochures with some of my vacs I have I think I just might... Give me a week or so lol.

Hey Pete...

I love the Dometic/Volta range! I have two of the upright. One is yellow with black flowers running down the front! Anyways...I've been looking for the canister model for a while too!

I did, however, find the brown (rusty brown?) powerhead with the Dometic insignia on it.

What vintage were these?

Guy

Hi Mike:

The Dometic 245 is the same machine as the Electrolux 345 with two differences. 1st the rug/floor nozzle was different and 2nd where the 345 had only an indicator light between the switches the 245 had an electrical outlet for the power head (which was optional) as well.

Doug
