Those were really neat Doug, the one showing the special attachment for long pile carpets looks interesting. Anyone ever use one?

Electrolux - Luton ,Englnd

Nice one Doug, lovely brochures, we always had Electrolux cylinders and Mum was a housekeeper to our local priest,he bought the Lux Turbomatic after the Hoover 652 finally passed, very good vac and with the turbo head was very effective & quiet in action..

Terry the Long Pile nozzle was the flip over floor tool like the 160 cylinder, I never understood why they did that as it was the basic tool on a delux cleaner, i know it had the turbo head but it should have been the flip over floor tool from the 180....the "easy does it lightweight range" was always a popular seller, especially with the blue rinse brigade, quite powerful cleaners as well...

Electrolux 410 upright

When I worked in Currys in 1990, a couple of little old ladies came in looking to buy a lightweight cleaner. They wanted an upright, and their options were limited to the Electrolux cleaner (probably a later model number than shown above), and the horrible Hoover 'Sprite'.

For their convenience, I pointed them in the direction of the Electrolux, as the Hoover had the following "inconvenience features" (bloody daft, if you ask me, when you consider that it had a basic design from the 'Turbopower' range!):

1. No handle lock at all (head flipped down when lifted);
2. Rocker switch on cleaner head (had to bend down to press it);
3. Rear wheels only: no front wheels, or height-right control;
4. H1 bags used (ye olde 'Senior'/'Junior' paper bags; with roll-on rubber ring). If that wasn't bad enough, the fitting of the bags reverted to the original upside-down fixture. AND the bag fitting access was restricted.

How any pensioner was expected to deal with this cleaner is beyond me.

The Electrolux was much easier to use in comparison.

Thanks for posting these

Luton isn't too far from me ;D
Its not a particularlly nice area tho :(

I love the 350's
I really want a 350E to go with my 350Z.
I missed one on ebay just after I got my 350Z :(

I'd love to get one of the turbomatics too or, preferably its predacessor - the 355 (or the 303 for that matter) love the color combinations of those two
