I bought a Senior Ranger off eBay last week for £60, seems a it steep but it in in fantastic condition.

The motor Runs pretty well as it is but I will open it up and clean and lubricate the bearings. The machine is just more or less dirty but I think it will turn out to be a diamond in the rough!

I understand this is the First Senior Ranger model introduced in 1974/75 so mine is an early one, I think it looks a lot nicer than the later U4014 that seems to be quite a famous cleaner as it was used in the classic Shake n' Vac advert.

Anyway, here is the picture from the eBay listing.

It arrived today (Friday 13th!!)

I was happy to see it arrived in a box rather than bin bags like many eBay sellers post vacuums in with little to no protection!! I was aware this model had plastic cord hooks as mid 70s onwards Junior and Seniors had so I was worried they would of snapped off in transit but the seller did wrap bubble wrap around the hooks, which I was pleasantly surprised to see. :) Needless to say, the cord hooks were/are intact.

No before photos unfortunately as I forgot to take some! Never mind, here it is all disassembled ready to go into the bath, aside the motor, of course!

The bag was washed in the washing machine, it was filthy, I mean just look at the eBay pic and then look at the bag in this pic lol. Now I need to clean up the motor, re-lube the brushroll bearings and get some new belts and it should be ready to roar again. I will post updates when I am at the next stage but this is as far as I have got up to now. :)

The machine is all back together, I have ordered new carbon brushes as they were worn out and a new genuine white cord as the old one was torn in a few places. Belts are on the way too, then it will be all ready to go. :)

Such a beautiful machine! I'm not normally a fan of this model during most years, but this one is truly wonderful to look at in such pristine condition.
