Right you are, Eric.
Good to have everyone chiming in about Super Js and pictures, too. Thanks guys.
There is massive leakage around the slots and the cap on both the Super J and the blue 1205, even sealing over those slots with a large rubber O ring for a direct intake reading. At the far end of the socket there is a soft rubber gasket ring that the hose should seat onto. Both of mine have this ring intact and sure enough, with the 1205 hose I get 55" on the 1205 and 64" on the J. So there's no clogs on my turbines.
You can see on the blue hose coupler the rubber O ring I used but in this position it had no effect raising the level further since the hose seats tight on the inner ring.
So Doug, the grey/blue hose is legitimate. Although mine carries electric power to the PN it is in such ragged & unsalvageable and shortened condition it just will not do for use - attached to the PN and vacuum it lifts the vacuum off the floor while trying to plow the carpet.
My chances of finding a USA-spec quick-connect hose being slim right now - and this one seeming to be virtually impossible to get the bladed coupler off the hose - I'll use the blue 1205 hose until I can locate a quick-connect cosmetically nice hose in just about any colour braiding (I'm not that colour fussy but the Blue is the only quick-connect hose I have and belongs to the 1205), as long as it has decent suction that would benefit from latexing.
As dirtfinder David Lavoie posted on a previous 50th Anniversary Golden/Diamond Jubilee thread, "a golden jubilee hose is about as rare as a Hoover Windtunnel!", so chances are good I'll stumble across a suitable one on future travels to the United States. If anyone has a spare one they'd like to email me about...that would make me happy to pay the postage...
Now to go outside and unpack the rest of yesterday's dumpster finds for the garage door shot...
