1975 Electrolux Super J

VacuumLand – Vintage & Modern Vacuum Enthusiasts

Help Support VacuumLand:

Right you are, Eric.

Good to have everyone chiming in about Super Js and pictures, too. Thanks guys.

There is massive leakage around the slots and the cap on both the Super J and the blue 1205, even sealing over those slots with a large rubber O ring for a direct intake reading. At the far end of the socket there is a soft rubber gasket ring that the hose should seat onto. Both of mine have this ring intact and sure enough, with the 1205 hose I get 55" on the 1205 and 64" on the J. So there's no clogs on my turbines. :-)

You can see on the blue hose coupler the rubber O ring I used but in this position it had no effect raising the level further since the hose seats tight on the inner ring.

So Doug, the grey/blue hose is legitimate. Although mine carries electric power to the PN it is in such ragged & unsalvageable and shortened condition it just will not do for use - attached to the PN and vacuum it lifts the vacuum off the floor while trying to plow the carpet.

My chances of finding a USA-spec quick-connect hose being slim right now - and this one seeming to be virtually impossible to get the bladed coupler off the hose - I'll use the blue 1205 hose until I can locate a quick-connect cosmetically nice hose in just about any colour braiding (I'm not that colour fussy but the Blue is the only quick-connect hose I have and belongs to the 1205), as long as it has decent suction that would benefit from latexing.

As dirtfinder David Lavoie posted on a previous 50th Anniversary Golden/Diamond Jubilee thread, "a golden jubilee hose is about as rare as a Hoover Windtunnel!", so chances are good I'll stumble across a suitable one on future travels to the United States. If anyone has a spare one they'd like to email me about...that would make me happy to pay the postage...:-)

Now to go outside and unpack the rest of yesterday's dumpster finds for the garage door shot...

Hey Dave:

The grey/blue tracer hose you have there was a later replacement that was out during the run of the 2100's (I think it came with the diamond jubilee model in the US)

OK, Doug. Think I got it now. As I say, any USA braided quick-connect hose will do just to be able to display and use the J and it's yellowed off-white/gray/beige tools without resorting to the blue 1205 hose which really does clash visually. LOL

Passed by this Vacuum Shop, felt the Twingle, no one was around and I noticed a green dumpster bin out back so...

Complete Kirby Heritage Super renovation Group kit and Bag and bits.

A new Vortech Force pre-motor filter.

Free Curbside Junk Driveby finds.

Clean small area carpet.

A totally smashed up reed organ from which I saved the gallery with beveled mirror and the stop board with all the celluloid labels in super condition.

A Kenmore PN, assorted hoses and a Tristar PN with hose and wand.

Regrettably I had to leave this Lewyt and Viking Shampooer behind. The Lewyt was missing everything and the cord was cut off. The Viking was missing it's cord, solution tank and the brushes.

But Doug, no hose, the wheels were bent, the caster is missing, the body is dented and mishapen so the bag door is crooked, the cord is gone, the tool holder cracked and broken off and it takes a tapered paper bag big enough to transport groceries...would you want it? It's probably still sitting there in abject misery...

Cut off power cord???

Who in the HELL would do such a thing. I HOPE they used it to hang themself!!!!.....Bill in Az....

Gleaner Bar

The first fixed gleaner bar was as said on the 1205. I have the first model machine (my Mother's) bought on June 30, 1969, in Tacoma WA for $212.00 w/ PN. Machine still runs perfectly even now. I have all 3 style of hoses, 2 different wand styles and both styles of PN. FYI, 1st edition came with hose cord as well as blade slots for future hose style--something I could never get my Mom to get, rats!

Not a thing wrong with it - why was is thrown out?

...so that a desreving person such as myself would find it and give it a good home. LOL

Not of a mind to sit idle and since all it needed was a cord a new cord the Rainbow SE got! and a sponge bath with Mr Clean's Magic Eraser.

Did not have an SE til now but did have a caddy box with the SE sprayer, crevicetool, floorbrush and a measuring cup. Bottom of the waterpan is date stamped June 21 1991.

Last and likely least from the curb

Weird and cute 9 volt floor sweeper with 4 rotating brushes. I replaced the nicad battery pack battery bundle with 6 regular alkaline AAs. Runs fast & strong and really does effectively sweep stuff into the removable central bin.

Never have seen one of these and like it's whimsical design much better than the single brush battery sweepers. It's only 1 & 3/4" high and has a universal joint for the handle so it's very maneuverable, like for under the stove and fridge. The clear top case lifts off for access to clean the brushes.

What a bunch of nifty stuff... there isn't a Kenmore hose in there is there.. I'm still looking for a replacement for that white one down in my basement,, you know the one...it has the two prong male electric plugs that go into the canister.

That's a little swivel sweeper you got there.. Liquidation World was clearing those things out months ago for about $15.

Pete, shoot me a picture of the socket and hose end. I've unearthed a box stuffed with assorted 'those' types of good shape Kenmore hoses and the one you need may be in there.

The swivelsweeper is a toy novelty of course but just like those small crumb vacs - it does work to pick up the light stuff.

I've seen pictures of Rainbows before, but it hit me when looking at your pictures how wide that power nozzle is. Looks like it could do the whole room in one pass.

Since you got the Super J, I've been poking around on Kijiji looking for the white or yellow hose. Didn't find anything, but just as a curiosity, have a look at what this guy is selling. There IS a yellow hose in there, but its probably for the pictured AP200.

Oh, what a lovely sunny yellow AP200, woven hose and yellow wand, Bob!

Too bad my French is non-existant. Appalling for a Canadian boy who took 3 fruitless years of Highschool French in the 1960s with a Language Lab and everything before flunking out, I know. But I did paste it to a translation site and gather he is appealing to wholesalers and willing to sell piece by piece?
