Hi seamus, the bag is deffo not cloth, it's kinda plasticy, and also thanks for letting me know, I knew it was from '70 as Alex told me ages ago, but I didn't know it was THAT early!

Lovely Machine!

Very nice, looks lovely now you've given it some spa treatment!

I *think* I have a brushroll in the garage for one of these, would need to check first though, and check the condition to see if it's worth using!

Fantastic restoration once again!

I'm amazed you got a Dirtsearcher for £9.99 as they usually sky rocket on eBay.

Hi Alex... im new to this... but just wanted to say Fantastic job on restoration on your junior. Just saw from your info one of your dream machines is a Electrolux contour? I have a contour flexihead on ebay at the mo but if you were interested i could take it off if you wanted to grab it before anyone else? It does need new brushroll as the Bristles are a bit worn and the end plastic caps for the bearings are worn as they have no rubber protectors but apart form that it works like a dream suction and motor wise and the body is in good condition too. Blue in colour. Just thought id let you know.
Let me know if you want it atal :-)

Will.

1354A bumper

Dysondestijl,

I know it's a bit of a late reply, but I have a dirtsearcher model (the later top fill version with brown trim) and it's currently wearing the earlier off-white bumper which I believe is the correct one for yours.

Would you be interested in a trade?

Hello Alex,

lovely job.

I wish I had kept the 1354a I bought at a local auction years ago. It can't have been more than a fiver and was no at all dirty, also, I did not need to replace anything.....why did I sell it!!!!

Your pics were great also.

Excuse the oldie for going on but I actually remember the 1334a in the shops when new, the tv ads and the rotating stands in the electricity board showrooms holding HOOVER spares such as belts, brushes, the original 'grey' paper bags and some tools.

The junior range alone, must have been a fantastic money spinner for Hoover for decades?

Again well done Alex.

Regards, Walter, SHROPSHIRE.

Best UK JUNIOR ever !

This is my favourite english Junior and I got one like yours last summer as a present from TOMMYMILAN.
The blue colour is very nice and the detachable dirtsearcher has a crazy-beautiful system !
Great job with your restoration !

Cheers, GUIDO

if only

.....I'd had the complete and original Hoover grease gun (given to me by a retired hoover dealer just before Christmas) when I regularly picking up 119/1300 range juniors and seniors; how much easier the job of greasing motor and agitators would have been!!!

Never mind, the gun itself is a great thing to have in my collection.

Dirtsearcher

The Junior series of cleaners was not made in America at all but in the UK.

As far as I am aware the Dirtsearcher version was not sold in the US, just the standard version with no lamp, first as the 1340 (the earlier version) and the later, more streamlined 1348 which has the closest resemblance to the dirt searcher.

Going back much earlier, there was a Canadian version if the Hoover Model 375 (1937-1950) sold in Canada called the 376. The next version Hoover 119 was sold in the US as the 115. Conversely the Lark 12 & 14 models which were technically similar but styled differently were manufactured in the UK (so I have been told) but only sold in the US and Canada not here.

Guess WHAT! ;-)))

Just 10 mins ago I shot the very same one here in a thrift shop for 10 €.
It is even in a slightly better condition than this one, just the vinyl cable threaders have come off the handle rod. Perhaps a new belt and that missing threaded nut for the handle/sviwel neck connection would be fine, that is all.

It was miserably sitting there back in the corner of the shop whispering: "psst, look at ME, I am her Majesty's cuteness, wanna play?" I sighed thinking "not another one, I am chokka..." but just upon riding home I found myself mumbling assuring words like "we'll get you shiny again, little bugger" ;-D
