front bearing

Lovely job - and well tackled.

I need to replace - or lubricate my front bearing too, and replace the fan blades which are a bit tattered. The Motor is out, but before I use any force, I would like to check , how is the fan and belt pulley removed from the armature prior to removing the bearing (or, how are they attached)?
Thanks.
John

John...

If you disassemble the motor completely and take the armature out, along with the front bearing, fan and pully, you can hold the armature in one hand and the fan in the other and if you hold the armature tight and then twist the fan one way or the other, it will loosen and the pully will unscrew...You can then pull the fan off the shaft and remove the spacers, then, gradually tap off the front bearing from its shaft (being careful not to bend the cooling fan) and that's it. 😊

Alex.

Electricbroom...

Thanks so much.

I love restoring them to looking as near to new as possible.

I love the white and blue colour scheme too, wish i had the matching Senior.

<span style="font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">Wow, Alex. It turned out beautifully. You did a great job.</span>

<span style="font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">A question: how did you restore the vacuum's bumper (furniture guard)?</span>

Portable...

Thanks so much, I am really pleased with the results, can be quite tedious.

A trick to restoring the bumper is to get a couple of dishwasher tablets in a small bucket of water, perhaps the amount an average kitchen or bathroom sink holds, the less diluted the better.

Soak the ruber parts in that solution and after soaking for around an hour, the grime just wipes off! Very little effort required, when it is dry, just polish with some pledge.

Alex.

Yes, all the above,

and hope all is well in Manc's Alex.
Dirty can be a bit of fun at times. o!o (Otter guy)
Like Lisa Stansfield sings, people hold on, got to be strong.

Ever watched the 100 foot journey? Excellent film.

Great here too Alex! Thanks!

Been buisy with summer gardening and such. Our second grand child was born the end of March, so we see them a lot too. My step daughters babies of course.
I always liked kids, but obviously, my persuasion is for the more masculine gender
strictly.

I live about 45 minutes +- from Dearborn, Michigan. We have not had problems as you have there, at least not yet. The first immigrants from the middle east were mainly Catholics from Lebanon, and a few from Yemen going back over 60 years.
The people I have met are very polite, and we have in our city, a large Chaldean community, so we have a melting pot of people who had to flee from Iraq. Some have been here 30 years or more already.
I pray for the future of humanity each day. Suppose I had been born there?

Hello my name is Gabriel and I'm from the big D of Texas and I also collect vacuums too, I've seen the junior dirtsearcher on the internet before and your junior dirtsearcher looks really beautiful just like the day it was made! I wish we had these particular models here in the US, if we did, it would've been called the lightweight dirtsearcher upright, but of course we did have the junior in the US but without the headlight and it was called the lightweight upright in green which I hope to find one day.

Alex, what was your method for painting the brushroll? I've got about half a dozen sanded down to do it, and the fee I've done come out looking pretty bad.

I use black satin spray paint, the trick is to hold the can far enough away, otherwise it will clump and or looks pitted.

Just mask up the beater bars, the better your prep, the better your end result. 😃

Wow-

Hey Alex-

Well what can I say, but you have done a remarkable task. Your other junior also appear near spotless and for the 6525C Senior Congratulations.

I have a Hoover 1346A Junior in that colour however struggle to find that exact slightly darker outer vinyl bag.

Regards
Adrian

Quick question: when using the Junior in tool mode, does the spinning brush roll touch the surface the vacuum is standing on? Or does Hoover supply a bottom plate to protect surfaces and fingers from damage? Curious to know how this mode works....
