Thanks!!! My husband restores cars for a living and I work with him too! At work, we have a 1957 Chevy 4 door. My husband did the body work and painted the car and another guy is assembling it now. It's getting close to being done! I asked our boss if I could drive it once it's done, and he said I could! Can't wait to test drive it! I only have a couple of pics of the car because it's in the back of the shop and not a lot of room for good shots! The 57 is way father along now! It runs! I will post more pics of it when it's up and moving!

I too love the 50's cars as well! I would love one day to be able to afford a 57 Chevy Belair, but at the moment I am very happy with my 1954 Buick Special.....

One of our friends has a new Altima with the constantly variable transmission, the first time I rode in it I said...This is NOTHING new, its just a glorified Dynaflow!!LOL...The smoothest thing ever made was a Buick Dynaflow.

Looks like you have your work cut out for you, but I'm sure it will be beautiful when you're done! I love 50's cars too, and enjoyed the pics of the 57 Chevys and 54 Buick as well. They were the cars of my childhood. When I was born, my folks had a 53 Ford Customline. Then when I was about 6 months old, they decided they needed a second car and bought a 52 Buick Roadmaster. My Grandfather had a 58 Plymouth Belvedere, one great uncle only drove Packards, another had a 53 Olds. One uncle had a 57 Chrysler, another had a Rambler wagon, another had a 55 Buick for several years, another had a 53 Chevy for quite a while, and another only drove Studebakers until about 1961. And when I started driving, my first car was a 60 Ford Falcon.

RE Dynaflow
The first Dynaflows were very inefficient, 48-53, but after that they were much improved as the 50s went on, the variable pitch twin turbine introduced in 55 was good, by 59 it was simply being called Turbine Drive, and a 59-63 Buick will perform about as well as a Hydramatic of the same period, not as well as a pre 56 Hydra Matic, those will bark the tires on a Cadillac or Olds under full throttle acceleration...Ask me how I know!LOL

Thanks for all of the history on the cars you grew up with! That's awesome! When I was about 4 and could remember cars, my dad had a late 40's or early 50's black pickup, don't remember the model! I do remember sitting in it and playing with the high beam switch on the floor, thought that was the bee's knees! Also, when I was 4, that was when I knew I wanted to work on cars! So, I think my dad sold that truck and then he got a 1958 Edsel! It was really cool because it had the push buttons in the middle of the steering wheel! My dad was missing the cover for the push buttons, so you just saw a light bulb in there, he would take different colored straws and cover the bulb up with it! The push buttons didn't work and he installed a floor shift. I remember he would freak me out when we would be driving in it and he would hit one of the push buttons and I would scream thinking the car would blow up or something! Ha Ha! He then sold that car and got a 1964 Chevy Impala 4 door. That car was pretty fun! He would freak me out in that one too! We would be going down the highway and he would pull the keys out of the ignition and would scream!!! Ha Ha! When I was 17 my parents were proud of my grades in school and bought me a 1966 Ford pickup truck! It had a three on the tree! It was hard for me to get use to driving it! Only drove it a few times and then it sat/my dad sold it. My dad had a 1948 Chevy pickup with a three on the tree too when I was in high school! It was pretty cool too! He sold that one as well. What sucks the most is that my dad was a good mechanic, but was a raging alcoholic, so he never had the patience for teaching me! So, I never learned about cars until I met my husband in 2006, so I was 21. I think it's cool that I'm not even 31 yet, and I've learned so much about cars and work on them for a living and also have my dream car!!!! Absolutely thrilled!!!

Thought you would find that amusing!!! Ha ha! Haven't touched chainsaws in a really long time!!! We have been focusing on the cars right now! We have now 5 Chevy Chevettes, I have a 1991 Oldsmobile Cutlass Ciera, a 1991 Chevy Beretta, and now a 1959 Desoto Firesweep! All of these cars are getting custom things and what not! We have a lot to do! Ha Ha!
