I think the thing I have always loved about the 1950s appliances of all kinds was the attempt of the manufacturers to make the consumers feel like they were royalty in their ease of life due to the quality of the machines they were using. I have always loved the greens and blues and of course the turquoise of the 50s. the eureka golden crown canister vacuum is a great example as is the wizard imperial canister machine. also other appliances had the royal touch with crown like embellishments such as fridgidaires crown symbol and of course cars were the epidome of our American consumer royalty. I believe the 50s were the greatest time in our history for machines and advertising style ect... of course the fashion industry is another great area also. Christian dior came out with his new-look in fashion in 1947 which saw the era of the gorgeous bouffant dresses which really took off as the 50s rolled on. not to mention the designs of the my favorite coutourier Charles james. James was the personal designer to austine hearst the wife of the famous publishing mogul. well that's enough for now thanks Bill
