Why I'm Concerned About The Future Of Kirby

I wouldn't worry. Kirby know what they are doing. Look how long they have been in business. They are doing something very right.

    DC33 problem

Well Matt I am indebted to you for this information. I have removed the cyclone top and it is almost identical to your photo, with pieces of curled-up foam stuck in the cyclones. Had I not had this information, I would have taken the top off and never noticed the seals were torn as they look...

    DC33 problem

Thank you for the replies. Trashing the cleaner is not an option for me as it is not mine. The cyclones all look clear. I can actually see straight through them. I did, however, find a video on the youtube where someone was saying that if the seal from the cyclone to the bin lid is in any way...

    DC33 problem

I have been asked to look at this cleaner for someone, but I don't know what the answer is and nor would it seem do Dyson. The pre-motor filter was clogged solid when I got it so I washed both filters and of course the cleaner worked like it was new. But within a very short space of time the...

    Hoover Turbopower U2334 (July 1986)

2nd generation This was technically the third generation of Turbopower cleaners for the Electricity Boards, because the original brown & cream cleaner stayed the same colour when the design of all the Turbopower models was overhauled around late 1985/ early 1986. So, the original Electricity...

New "EU" vacuums have less suction than 30 year old vacuum!

Plugs in Europe Aside from Brexit and all talk of Britain being in or out of Europe, our plugs and wiring are almost unique. France has it's own type of socket which has an earth pin that protrudes from the wall socket, but the same plugs fits into it which is used in so many other parts of...

    Help with Hoover 612

Yes, you need to hold the armature securely and unbolt the pulley by turning it clockwise.

    Help with Hoover 612

Ah yes I forgot that the 612 belt is bigger. This said, in all my years repairing cleaners I swore that a Junior belt on a Senior and a Senior belt on a 612 style machine always worked better and without any damage.

    Help with Hoover 612

The rear of that pulley is supposed to have a hard plastic shroud on it like the one in my website link below. I cannot remember if the original 612 pulley was all metal or not, but it's irrelevant here as your pulley will have had the plastic part. You can see where yours is worn away, although...

    Commercial Upright (UK)

Have you seen the Truvox Valet upright at all?

    Commercial Upright (UK)

You would have to define "commercial use" and explain who was going to be using it before you can get the best answer. For instance, if it is being left somewhere where the cleaning staff or anyone else for that matter might break it or steal it, then no matter what cleaner is the best for the...

    The New eBay Scam?

I'm confused. I note your points but how can you be so sure it's a scam?

    Hoover Celebrity S3111 1250W from 1978

We had this in the UK in another colour. Brown and yellow. The switch is operated by air pressure which forces the microswitch in the cleaner to open and close. Rather a complicated set up for not much advantage. UK version had no power head. The cleaning head had a huge dial on it to which the...

    NEW Vorwerk Kobold VK200

"Is this going to help everyone out in the UK now that you're independent or is this going to hurt for a short time. I just hope it was for the right reasons because I love going over there plus if your economy goes down I can always do more shopping while I'm there to help boost it up a bit "...

I see today in the pamphlet that the Vax cleaners are "on sale" for £149. Who knew?

    Hoover Turbomaster U5094 Total System

Sebofan, I was never much of a follower of Which?, in fact I am still not, so I didn't know they picked up on the Panasonic story. I do know it was all over the TV show "Watchdog" one evening. Interesting too what Alex said about more Hoover adverts on Youtube than any other - I think again it...

    Hoover Turbomaster U5094 Total System

During the mid 1980's when Electrolux bought out their 612 cleaner, it was advertised a lot in the region where I was a viewer - the advert I recall most was the one with the lady who had a 612 competing with a sportsman who didn't. But there were some other shorter ones too which I can't...

    Hoover Turbomaster U5094 Total System

Sebofan, I don't remember the first of those adverts at all, though I have seen them on Youtube. Electrolux and Panasonic always seemed to run many more. Then second advert I always considered to be not for the Turbomaster per-se but for the Freedom bagless contraption which Hoover had just...

    Hoover Turbomaster U5094 Total System

Alex, it has to be said that Panasonic and Electrolux did very well too, I am not sure how they veiwed the competiton, but what I do know is that both Panasonic and Electrolux advertised their cleaners on TV a hell of a lot. Hoover didn't promote the Turbomaster anywhere near as much. Why...
