Help with Hoover 612

Help Support VacuumLand:

The rear of that pulley is supposed to have a hard plastic shroud on it like the one in my website link below. I cannot remember if the original 612 pulley was all metal or not, but it's irrelevant here as your pulley will have had the plastic part. You can see where yours is worn away, although goodness only knows what caused that to happen.

In the UK the light bulb was mains voltage and I have no reason to think it would be different anywhere else in a cleaner of that age, but I don't know that for a fact.

Light Bulb

The bulb runs off AU mains voltage - 220V/240V. You can still get small pilot lamps at hardware stores that will suit. 25W max SBC should do it. If old bulb is in machine, take it to the shop and look for similar.

Good luck. Original bag looks great!

Ah yes I forgot that the 612 belt is bigger. This said, in all my years repairing cleaners I swore that a Junior belt on a Senior and a Senior belt on a 612 style machine always worked better and without any damage.

Don't know if they-re the same regarding this, but on my 825 the armature is slotted on the bottom for a flat screwdriver to hold it.
