    Dog the bounty hunter

Duane Chapman was one of my Bison dealers. He had sold Bisons in Texas and then moved to Colorado, where he approached me to sell Bisons for me. He was a particularly dishonest person, and caused me lots of problems, one of which actually caused me to fear for my life. Clay

    Whats your Brand?

I love them all, but from a collector's standpoint it would have to be Rexair, Air-Way, and Hoover (from the old days, not since Hoover has become just another cheap vacuum). I bought a Model B Rexair at age 9 in 1957. By 1958 I had met the Denver, CO Rexair Branch Manager (later among the first...

    Bisons "gear drive"?

I was a Bison distributor from 1973-1975 (and was to have spoken on this subject at the Omaha Convention, until the convention nazis dumped me with no explanation). The first Bison models, Mark I and Mark II had the original gear drive design. It had a rubber crown coupler which fit over the...

    Rare black electrolux ultralux

This machine was a special edition to be used as a prize for Electrolux Branch Managers. It was not offered for sale to the general public. When we toured the Electrolux factory in 1998, they had several of these, brand new in sealed cartons. Tom convinced them to give one to the VCCC, and it...

My New Air-Way Signature Series Vacuum

A couple of things I've picked up on when talking to Steve Tomberlin at Air-Way (in addition to surprise when he answers the phone himself, instead of a receptionist): Steve doesn't totally own the company. He mentioned to me that Dr. Joyce Brothers, the well known TV psychologist, is a major...

My New Air-Way Signature Series Vacuum

They absolutely still build these wonderful machines. I sell them in my store. However, the last several shipments I've received have the new style Power Nozzle with the Whisper Belt. The purple color was to honor the first Air-Way Sanitizor, the pre-war Model 55 and 55A. (The post-war 55A's are...

found this nice hand vacuum at a garage sale

I have one just like it. Pretty sure it was made for Ward's by Apex. Anyone have any better info?

    Christian Klingspor Eureka

Those were made around the time I moved my vac shop to NC, late 1990's. I may have sold a few of them. Christian Klingspor is evidently a well known designer of some sort. Forgive me for not being so up on those kind of things. It was a dressed up Eureka Victory.

quick question for all rexair people!

It is extremely rare. I have been looking for a Model 3, without success, for over 40 years. I'd love to see a pic.

    Hoover Slider

I was glad to see Tom's post about Hoover never being much into canisters. I've always held that opinion myself. Hoover has made some great uprights and some good uprights. But they've never made a great canister. I think the Dimension 1000 was probably the closest they ever came to a good...

    New Member of the Family

Very nice machine! The Vibra-Beat attachment is one of those gadgets we love to hate. Quite a gadget, but absolutely useless in the real world. Remember a few years ago when R. J. entered on in the cleaning contest. Got a lot of laughs, but cleaned dismally. But that's what's so fun about so...

Mint Hoover 634 Discovered in San Francisco Vac Shop

The name "Rexair" is correctly spelled "Rexair," not "Rex-Air."

How old is my Eureka Boss?

A machine that fits that description is still made as Model 1934, although there have been others. Post your model and serial number, and I'll be able to tell you how old it is.

    Sanitaire SC782/SC785

They are two different things, aimed at two different markets. The 782/785 is a lightweight full powered upright. Interestingly, Eureka considers it to be their competition for Oreck. It's certainly a much better machine. I'd been steering Oreck buyers (very successfully) to the 634, the...

Mint Hoover 634 Discovered in San Francisco Vac Shop

My mother and my paternal grandmother both bought new 634's. My mother traded in my first toy, the 150 her mother had bought new. A black cord is correct on this model so that may be the original cord. Can't tell from the pic.

    Rainbow E Series

Whatever you do, don't let a vac shop, unless they are a factory authorized Rainbow Service Center, touch your machine. There is so much new technology, not found in other vacuums, in the newer Rainbows, that they may very well mess it up. This is why Rexair, Inc. sends Field Service Reps to all...

    Rainbow E Series

For $10.00 you can't go wrong, even if it needs a lot of work. The seller doesn't know what they have. Turn the machine over, with the pan off, and look at the general condition. Unscrew the separator and take it off. There is a little wrench for that purpose in a slot on the underside of the...

My Hellish Experience with a Hoover Elite Supreme

To answer Sandy's question, among the high quality machines I have in my store are Rainbow, Air-Way Sanitizor, TrendVac (all US made) and Sanitaire. These are all very, very well built machines, which a customer can expect at least twenty years of trouble-free service from. They are also all...

My Hellish Experience with a Hoover Elite Supreme

Charlie <br After this disaster, and your earlier Dyson disaster, I think you're in your element with the great old cleaners of yesteryear. I have to deal with this stuff on an everyday basis because I'm in the business, but I sure lament the passing of quality. You can get quality, but you...

    Rexair Machine end ferrule...

There is actually no such thing as an original hose end ferrule for a Model B Rexair because the machine originally used a cotton braided hose with two molded rubber ends, one of which was cemented onto the brass swivel tube which rotated inside the cast aluminum coupling. The opposite...
