Extremely Old Hoover, searching for details.

Helix Brushroll Which Mr Dyson apparently copied for the likes of the Dyson DC03 uprights - and the the other Dysons which also used dual-belt and clutch arrangements. As others have said in the past: what goes around, comes around.

Curious about this Panasonic Jet Flo upright

Some of the high-powered UK models had 2-belt systems too, such as Panasonic and Hoover Purepower. When 1800 Watt and above motors were fitted, an ordinary single belt might snap quite quickly. Also, speedily revolving agitators might not generate the proper vibration in the carpet. I think...

    Panasonic built Miele

Panasonic suction The UK Panasonic bagged uprights (made in Spain) seemed to have 'unsealed' suction systems. An MC-E4xx (I forget the model number maybe 480?) - had a plastic ring around the hose-to-bag compartment elbow, secured by three screws. This had an indentation on the underside...

What happened to the UK members?

"Is anyone still here from the UK?" I'm still kicking about here, on occasion. Not very often mind you. For some reason several months ago now, this site repeatedly threw up 'Forbidden Access' errors. I never did get to the bottom of that. The Automaticwasher site always worked fine.

New Dyson Robotvac, Hepa Stick Vac and Floor Washer

High price indeed Eight hundred and fifty quid - for a cordless stick-vac! Who in their right mind would pay that price?

Windsor Sensor XP12 auto height not working

I remember seeing a video of a servo-motor stripped down. A multitude of gears. I presume they're plastic gears? I also suppose plastic being plastic, it wears down, possibly causing the gears to slip and skip. You might find you encounter the same problem again, sooner rather than later...

Windsor Sensor XP12 auto height not working

Probably the most likely scenario: Apparently there is a small magnet, somewhere (I presume) in the region of the suction duct handle hinge assembly... which is known to fall off, in the chassis area. A spot of glue should keep it in place. I think the machine must be thinking that it is still...

Does A HEPA bag = HEPA filtration?

Hepa bags dust retention I have a Sebo upright with those genuine Sebo triple layer synthetic fleece bags, and I'm really not impressed with the performance of them. They don't have enough filtration layers. I find that fine dust, just general house dust, can and does pass right through them...

Is it possible to make a Junior 1334 top fill?

Yes, it is possible - I did that once to a 1334 Junior. It made bag changes much easier and cleaner. I was always a bit surprised that Hoover took so long to realise the benefits of top fill. I used the bag fill/support tubes and cloth outer bag from a U1104 Junior. The 1334 bag suspension...

Deep-cleaning carpets that haven't been cleaned in 20+ years

You'd probably be better using a Hoover upright with the Autosense/dirt detector, simply continue cleaning the area until the light turns green. Then use a hot water extractor type machine.

    Is Sebo X7 really good?

In reply to the original poster, I have to agree - I have the same red model. It is an unremarkable machine, and I am just not impressed by it. The hose is far too short, and whether it clicks into the usable locked position within the wand, much depends on the whims of the machine. I've had it...

How to fix Dyson mini turbine head?

Suction power Ah - there is a substantial difference between the DC07 and the DC17. The DC17 generates about 220 air watts. The DC07 apparently is listed at 280 air watts. But I am pretty sure that the original version of the DC07 (with the complicated vortex finders) could generate up to 330...

How to fix Dyson mini turbine head?

Are you sure that the gauze grill on the 'on/off' control is free of fluff? Use a suction hose on the gauze. Reversed airflow might help. Are you sure that this nozzle is made for that machine? I had a DC14 with that style of turbo nozzle. I also had a DC15 with an apparently identically...

    Is Sebo Felix really good?

That carpet looks as though it is a synthetic type carpet, such as polypropylene or polyester? And it looks to be normal depth carpet. Two things come to mind: (a) the carpet might not be suitable for hard-wear areas such as lounge and hallway; i.e. liable to show wear quite readily. It might...

    UK Dyson Cylinder Cleaners Discontinued

I've been wondering the reasons: Too bulky for most folk? Insipid suction power (based on the EU maximum motor wattage)? Too expensive? Or maybe they were just plain unusable? I remember reading customer reviews last year, which said the floor head on the cylinders stuck fast to the...

    UK Dyson Cylinder Cleaners Discontinued

I never noticed until I was reading the Dyson upright reviews on the Dyson UK site. A customer was bemoaning the demise of the Dyson cylinder cleaners. https://www.dyson.co.uk/vacuum-cleaners/shop-vacuum-cleaners

Good news for the future of vacuums as major home appliances

Reply #22 "I also feel it’s much more respectful to the person who lives in the apartment below me…she is not disturbed by my walking nor can she hear if something drops on the carpet (like my phone) late at night." Exactly my thoughts too - more so with the recent 'working from home'...

Woo Hoo!!! A Brand New Budget Bagged Upright In The UK!!!

Hoover 'Purepower' bagged upright Apparently that too has been discontinued. Not even the low-powered bagged 'Enigma' variant exists anymore. Well done Hoover: your continued incompetence knows no bounds. Anyway, good luck to Zanussi/Electrolux with the ZAN2087PT. My only concern is the short...
