    Vacuum lines on carpet

A girl I used to live wasn’t vacuuming, she was ‘making lines’.

    Man up!

They are very easy to maneuver. While the brush is revolving, lift up on the handle to move it one direction and push down to move it the other. Lower the handle to about waist height and clamp it in place. People don’t know to do that and without it you will have no control over the machine and...

Electrolux Purchase - How Did I do?

I got this off of Ebay. All the parts seem to be there and it's in good cosmetic condition. He claims he has disassembled the machine and cleaned it inside too. The price was $260.00 + shipping a few days ago. Today it dropped to $199.00. Didn't figure it would go any lower, so I went for it. I...

    Hoover Convertible belt breaking

I've noticed this too, just recently. I think the quality has dropped since the '70's & '80's. They're too tight. I can't get the belt on the pulley anymore. There could be multiple reasons for this. 1. The belts set on the shelf longer because people don't change vac belts anymore, especially...

    Hoover Belts

What's wrong with Hoover Vacuum belts? A Convertible belt used to last a year or longer with hard use. Now they are lucky to last a couple of months with little use. And they won't stretch over the pulley. It's nearly impossible.

My small project to restore a Kirby Sentria

Don't know if you want to spend the money or not but from the sound of things you might be just as well off to replace the entire transmission. There are several on eBay.

    Kirby Odorific Drops Question-

If you want the original smell of Kirby Oderific, look for Odors Away. It smells just like it. You can purchase it at Ace Hardware in the household cleaning section of the store. At least it's available at our Ace Hardwares here. They have a web site too, I believe. I agree with you and was very...

Has Anybody Used The New Kirby Charcoal Bags?

Steve (Kirby 519), you posted exactly what I was thinking. Odors Away is a great product IMO and smells just like Kirby Odorific of yesteryear. I was disappointed when Kirby changed the formula and pleased when I found OA. It can be purchased at Ace Hardware in the US. It can be used in any...

    Kirby G4 Help

I know exactly the sound you're describing. I had a G4 that made the exact same noise. I remember it well because the girl I was living with at the time mocked it. I consulted my G series service manual. Under section 4 - Troubleshooting, #9. Squeal noise from motor on wind down. > Probable...

The latest addition to my toilet collection.

American Standard I said I would post some pics of my A/S toilet after it was done. Was having some trouble with my picture program. This confuser?! I don't know sometimes. Let's try. It really does flush. I look forward to using someday. For now it's wrapped up with pallet wrap and stored. All...

What is your favorite Hoover Convertible?

My 66, but the bag is shot and I'm having trouble reproducing it. I've got a really close cloth outer bag match in color, but it's to big. I made the top narrower but now I need to take in the sides. It's too big and looks funny.

The latest addition to my toilet collection.

Sorry. I hadn't checked this thread for a long time. No one said anything at first, so I forgot about it. Jonathan and Dave, thanks so much for the response. Thanks for dating the toilet for me. I wonder why it only says May 6 with no year? How did you know the year, Jonathan? And yes, I'm...

The latest addition to my toilet collection.

My New "American Standard" Habitat Find Well, this thread seems to have a life of it's own. Far be it from me to keep it alive. lol. I found this little gem at our local HFH for $20.00. Sonneyndad (Clayton) or anyone else in the know; what have I got here. Is this a Standard Compact or a...

Dehumidifier settings for new vacuum room

Most humans feel fairly well with humidity around 50% and a temperature of around 70-74 degrees. Vacuums will probably be fine around 40% humidity. But more importantly, I think you will find, is having a place for your dehumidifier to drain into, such as a floor drain. You're going to get very...

    Hoover Model 66

I bought a Hoover model 66 late last year. I've been trying to revitalize the outer bag without much luck. It wasn't terrible but it was a bit stiffer than I like. I know it's probably a tall order, but if anyone knows of a source for another model 584 bag or a 66 bag could someone let me know...
