    Elux Hose?

I believe the early 1205 vacuums had a "pigtail" near the door for the power nozzle.

    Good and bad Electrolux Motors?

cracked axles brackets These vacs will usually get tossed. I fixed mine by fabricating new ones. (Brown Olympia One, now blue :) ) 1st 3 pics are the Olympia One 4,5, & 6 show the Silverado. Bottom is all rusty. It looks like the Silverado was kept in a very humid area.

More information on the Lux Diplomat LX?

That model is referred to as Electrolux 2100 series. I have several of them. Many parts are still available, as well as hoses for them. The Perfect HEPA filters will fit, and are an excellent bag. Perfect makes an almost identical copy of them, with many of the parts interchangeable with the...

The extra wire comes from the thermal fuse or motor protector. Some bypass it. I'll have to look for my diagrams. It is usually wrapped up and taped to the motor. Correct item is Klixon 7AM thermal protector specs are circled in red.

    Found A Hoover Duros

I cleaned one of those for an elderly lady a few months back. It has a flat belt, and when the brush gets clogged, the belt usually goes as well. (Develops a flat spot form the brush spinning) She paid for a new motor and belt. There is a specific number for the motor to get it cheaper if you...

    rusty vacuums

We've seen them, it sucks, it happens. Poor storage is the leading cause, flood damage is another. These two I recently acquired are rusty, but are salvageable. I believe these were stored in a barn. Sometimes the rust is so bad the steel has holes in it. With these, they both run, but...

    glitter vacuum attachments

I know they are not for an Electrolux. The ends are different. That is why I phrased it the way I did. :)

    glitter vacuum attachments

They remind me of the motorcycle helmets from the 70's. Fits right in with the gold Super J. and shag carpeting. :) Don't come across these that often.

something missing from modern vacs - ability to use as a blower

sometimes it is quicker to grab the vac than drag out the air compressor. The blower is much gentler than using the air compressor obviously. Sometimes, this is a better way to go.

    Aging and our Vacuum Collections

My dad built his house in 1969. The amount of stuff in the house, garage, and separate barn is very overwhelming. I have been trying for a numbers of years to have him make a dent in it, but it is a losing battle. He loves to get stuff, but is very reluctant to get rid of it. What I always tell...

    Aging and our Vacuum Collections

We live in disposable society now. That reminds me of the stories I have been reading about vintage cars. The current generation does not care that much about the older cars. The ones that will most likely survive are the resto-mod cars. For example, you can take a vintage Corvette body from...

something missing from modern vacs - ability to use as a blower

The Shark Navigator Lift-Away is ready for long term storage. Filters are washed and dried. Hoses have been cleaned out, dust cup washed. This was a gift and I cannot get rid of it. I am sure anti-static spray would work well for the dust cup, as it does for my shredder. At least it smells...

something missing from modern vacs - ability to use as a blower

The Flexible Flyer's with the steel runners and frames are not used much these days. The runners can slice fingers off, and the front bumper is all steel. Same with the aluminum sleds shaped like a satellite dish. I spray the bottom of the plastic sleds with silicone or Jig-a-loo . The inflator...
