Hey guys I saved a Lux from the dumpster yesterday! I'm not sure what model it is as I'm not a lux person ( more of a Kirby guy ). I'll post pictures of the machine soon . ( Photo below is not mine )

This Elextrolux is not unknown.

It's one of two well known models. Either the J (jubilee) which came out in 1974, or else the improved version the Super J which came out in 1975.

To learn more on this model go to AMERICAN ELECTROLUX TANK-TYPE VACUUM CLEANERS. This is the site of one of our Electrolux Experts, and a good friend of mine.

By the way you have rescued a great machine from the wreckers ball.

Weigh it.
The Super J had a larger, heavier motor.
Super J is almost 19 lbs.
Jubilee will be closer to 16 lbs.

It's gold

so it may be a golden jubilee. Wait for electrolux137 to reply. He Knows for certain, or you can try e-mailing him. Or Tom Gasko whose screen name is Dysonman.

Open up the front and look at the model number. If it's a 1401, it's a Super J. If it's a 12xx (I don't remember the exact model number), it's a it's a Golden Jubilee. They also had stickers on the outside that can give you a clue. If it's a Golden Jubilee, it may well have a blue sticker on it commemorating Lux's 50th anniversary. If it's a Super J, it may well have a sticker on it that says "Super J", at least mine does.

I agree

With Edgar (human). The Electrolux Super J had a longer body than the Golden J, and inside the bag door, it will say it's a model 1401. On the back of the unit, behind the blower door, there's a logo that says Super J in script (see attached photo). The Golden J, under it's bag door is a model 1205, and on the back of the unit behind the blower door, it's a blue circle with a gold wreath around it (think of an older Cadillac Hood ornament), and it says Electrolux 50th Golden Jubilee. I believe both of the photos I've posted here belong to VacuumLand members, so I will give credit there!
