    Advice Needed-Canister Vacuums For Allergies

Rainbow is the only way to go. It is the ONLY vacuum cleaner which is A.H.A.M. certified as an air cleaner. The new e2 is designed to run 24/7 on low speed. It is virtually silent on low speed. The use of a brushless motor enables it to run for indefinite periods of time. When you want to...

My favorite GE Roll Easy story

Boy you guys take this stuff seriously. As I recall he sold the machine, he just got a damaged trade-in.

    This is interesting...

That's called a Polichamp. We used to sell them back in the 60's and '70's. It was an excellent floor polisher, and built a whole lot better than Fairfax's polisher, which was a friction drive - the rotating shaft extending from the motor rubbed on a rubber ring on the outside edge of the brush...

My favorite GE Roll Easy story

You need to be familiar with the GE Roll Easy to understand this one, a true story from the 1950's or early '60's. Seems a Rexair/Rainbow salesman was demoing to a couple who had a Roll Easy. After doing the air wash segment of the demo, and showing how their vac spews filth into the air he said...

    Which would clean carpet better?

Very nice bag conversion and restoration of your Kirby. It is simply beautiful. However, neither the Kirby nor the Royal, good as they are, can hold a candle to a contemporary Hoover with its steel agitator with steel beater bars. Nothing at that time cleaned like a Hoover.

how to restore a hoover 28

You can probably find a nicer one. These were very popular machines right after WWII. (Everybody bought a Model 28 Hoover, a Model XXX Electrolux, or a Model B Rexair in the immediate postwar period, hence the abundance of these models so many years later.) The Model 28 was the lower priced...

    Free vacuums

Tom Gasko has received a bunch of vacuums inclduing many Hoover Convertibles and Kirbys, if I understand him correctly. He is willing to give them to any members, just for the cost of shipping. He would have posted this himself, except that he has been permanently banned from the forum by the...

Red & Green Christmas - Matching Eurekas

Those are beautiful machines! And what else is nice is that they still make that same basic machine, but it is part of the Sanitaire System Pro (blue household) line, rather than the lower priced Eureka brand. I sell a fair number of them in my store, and am convinced that this is the best...

    Kirby "bank"

Re: Kirby plastic fans I have owned vac shops for many years, and have never been that fond of Kirbys, although I will admit they are well built. However the lexan ("plastic") fan, first introduced on the Tradition, was the best thing they ever did. Unlike the previous cast aluminum fans, they...

    What are our favorite vacuums?

Mine would have to be the Rexair Model B, The Hoover Model 150, and the Air-Way 55A. The Air-Way uprights and the early Hoovers all rate right up there too.

wheres the switch on the ge roll easy

Don't ask Charlie Lester where the switch is. He's still looking for the switch on the Dyson! (Sorry, Charlie, I just couldn't resist.......)

    Silver King powernozzle hood.

Sorry I forgot the important part. Silver King, the last I knew, used a Douglas Power Nozzle, in the exact same form as you buy it as a generic replacement Power Nozzle from any parts supplier. You could use one of those. Then, if you ever got the sticker, just slap it on. Silver King was...

    Silver King powernozzle hood.

Reggie, The last I knew, Silver King was manufactured in Manitou Springs, just outside Colorado Springs. I did hear the rumor that they had gone out of business. What do you know about that, if anything? Have you tried contacting them?

    Buy American

Rexair LLC manufactures all the Rainbows sold in 106 countries worldwide at its Cadillac, MI plant. They build their own motors onsite, something most manufacturers don't do. After attending a factory sponsored service seminar (I operate an Authorized Rainbow Service Center) I am absolutely awed...

    Regina Model 59 Upright

I have a nice Model 59 Regina also. It was given to me about ten years ago by my friend and fellow VCCC member Hans Craig. I entered it in the cleaning contest for straight suction uprights, fully expecting to win in 1997 in Cleveland. (The categories were somewhat different then.) I was...

What I used to vacuum my house tonight...

A couple of items of interest here. The 600 series of model numbers were models made for K-Mart. Their counterparts in the other models would be 1400 and 2000 series for the uprights and 1700's for the type of canister shown here. And the machine shown is too old to have a date code on the spec...

My new Rainbow E Series... AWESOME MACHINE

If used properly, one of the biggest advantages of the e2 is that it eliminates the hassle of having to drag out the machine and set it up. It is AHAM certified as an air cleaner, and intended to be run 24/7 on low speed. When you want to vacuum, just connect the hose, and turn the switch to...

    Hoover Z

I hate to admit that one of my most heinous indulgences at VCCC conventions is getting quite stoned with Ms. LaToure and philosophizing about vacuum cleaners. And at our worst we could never have dreamt up something so ridiculous and useless as the Z........

    Handy Way

Handy Way was started by former Air-Way sales people. Later the company was purchased by Air-Way, and continues as the Air-Way Sani-Clean. This is the lighter weight less costly companion to the Air-Way Sanitizor we all know and love. And yes, they both use the same disposable bags. I am an...

    Water vacuum

No, NO, NO! About the Water-Matic. A fine vacuum, but the name is misleading. It is not a water filtration vacuum (like a Rainbow) but a vacuum which can be adapted to pick up water by removing the filter and putting in a float valve which shuts off the suction when the container reaches...
