In North Phoenix. A little steep but I know these are rare. Someone save it!
The Green One?
The oldest example I've come across was from 1998. The Windunnel line began in 1997, but I've never found a good answer for what was the absolute first model released. The U6430 was at least one of the first, and was well into production by 1998.
I took a look on Bing (which usually has a different set of data than Google), and archive.org didn't have an snapshot of Euro Pro or sharkclean.com. That's unfortunate.
Email them or write them a letter to a US office. For a company so dependent on infomercials they should have an archive...
I stayed up late to see how this action ended. I was thinking $1500 was going to be the high, but $2100? Insane. I'm not a big Kirby guy, so I'm not up to date on values. Does $2100 for something in such amazing condition seem right?
I think I know what model you're talking about. One of the late-model traditional style Elites that's bright red. I don't know for certain but I think you're right about it being a "Preferred". Does translucent bag cover seem taller than the usual soft cover models?
I've seen at least 2 of...

I'm so sorry about the delay, but I still have it. We're only a state apart so shipping will be reasonable. Shoot me an email if you're still interested!
I agree with a lot of what dysonman1 said. People like what they grew up with. Hoover Elites are really loud and brittle, but everyone had one when I was much younger, so somehow I'm inclined to prefer an Elite to a present-day (and perhaps even better made) upright Hoover. Nostalgia really...

The handle doesn't always want to recline, but if you place pressure in the right place it will go down. I haven't been able to find a replacement belt for it. The length between the brush roll and pulley is huge. My guess is a used Windtunnel belt might do it.
Is it one of models with the power switch on the handle? Those are actually an extension of a plastic rod that mechanically flips a rocker switch right below where the handle is screwed in. Overtime the rod can become slightly bent and lose ability to fully flip the power switch.
Your machine...
Hey Guys,
I'm going through a period of downsizing and have a few machines I'd like to sell. eBay fees have gone insane recently, plus I'd like to sell to fellow collectors anyway.
*Kenmore Destiny 12 amp. I believe it's a 1998 model. Great cosmetic condition, but needs a new belt.
*Hoover...
Gunk is probably stuck to the blades of the fan after all that water damage. It's still possible to find that model used if you look around and be patient. I would just hold out and wait for another one; water damage is pretty irreversible. Grab any good parts off your red one just in case :)
This Is Fantastic!
I had no idea Hayden made a video like this. MD and Aqua-air had videos like this online for awhile, but they didn't include much footage of portable vacs, like the Fantom and GE in this video. For years I was convinced the MD SilentMaster was the greatest vacuum ever...
I should really know this answer already, but what type of brush roll comes pre-installed in this model? Is it the black wooden version with cheap red beater bars? I'm hoping to find something with all bristles.
I've been cycling through well-used vacuums for the past few years, and I think...
Bagintheback here :)
Good thing I checked Vacuumland today! I don't remember exactly what was going on back in 2012, but I've learned alot since 2012. Eureka seems to have been going down in quality since the mid-2000s. They just discounted their last consumer F&G upright. The end of an era...
Those are definitely Perfect products. You can always tell by the looped handle. The hoods are slightly more curved, and the cooling vents make a V shape rather than the parallel lines on Sanitaires. They're made in China and use different motors than Sanitaire, but the one I owned came with a...

Wow, you're right! There's only one bagged upright left. But for $199? The self-propelled Hoover Windtunnel has got to be the better choice at that price point.
I haven't thought about YouTube for awhile, but thanks for reminding me! The problem is that it's become pretty...
