    I couldn't rescue it :(

On my way to college I spotted a Kirby G4... It was an 80th anniversary edition complete with the tools. It was at the curb about a half a mile away from my house. We had enough room and time to pick it up but we didn't. Lesson learned.

    my $5 eureka

Very Nice Eureka! I got a Ward's Power II recently from a vacuum shop for free. It came with all the tools and is virtually mint, except for a few cracks on the plastic tool cover.

    Collection Update

Wow! Good idea to skip that. The only Dirt Devils that might be worth $80 would be a NIB Ultra MVP (their best upright) or perhaps a NIB "Cyclone" shop vac. These older Dirt Devils were not built all that well and tend to have shot bearings at this stage in their life.

    Bissell Pure Air Deluxe

Cool! I've seen tons of bags for these, but never the machine itself. I have a Consumer Reports buying guide from like 1999 or 2000 that has the recall for this in it. It had something to do with the fraying of the cord, I think.

    Going from Bad to Worse

Here are a few more modern ones. The Fantom Wildcat, the Fantom Crosswinds, the Hoover Windtunnel 2 with the troublesome "rotating" filter, the Hoover Savvy with the double brushrolls, the Eureka Bravo, the Dirt Devil Upright with the "C" bag, the Bissell Powerforces with the hopelessly...

Latest finds: some very rare ones!

Update: The red Wildcat does run. I just got a new (used) Fantom Lightning motor for the Destiny 3000. These two machines are projects for when I'm back from school.

Thanks! Too bad Silver King is out of business.

Latest finds: some very rare ones!

I have not posted about new machines in a while. Up until last Saturday, I only had two additions to my collection in two and a half months. In early July, I purchased a Rexair model B at an estate sale for about $40. I don't think it was worth $40 but I bought it anyway. It is missing the hose...

Rexair model B hose Do you by chance have a Rexair model B hose that you could list on eBay?

    New Water Infomercial Vacuum

Interesting. Looks to be the one modern infomercial vacuum that may be worth buying. Being the cheapest water filtration vacuum with a separator, it should sell well. But, I still doubt it's as good as a Rainbow or even a Sirena. If someone buys one, I'd love to see a review of it. It's...

    Hoover Caddy-vac for my friend

I saw a nice one at an estate sale today for $25. It was pretty nice, but no bag inside and no extras.

The 1960's room at Vacuum Cleaner Museum

Gorgeous vacuums! I still hope to stop by within the next month. I got a Rexair model B today at an estate sale for $37.50! I'm back to having four functional Rainbows. (I have a fifth: a chocolate colored D2 which needs a total overhaul).

    Vacuum Museum 1970's display

Very nice machines, Tom! I hope to visit the museum before I'm off to college in 1 1/2 months. If not, I'll have plenty of breaks to do so. Looks like the museum will have to get a 1980's section soon!

Silver King, the most undeservingly maligned vacuum amongst collectors.

I have a mint green Silver King AE. It's a decent vacuum. The suction on it is great. I found that my plastic Compact hose fits it, so I can use tools with it. I made a new filter out of a HEPA bag to sit OVER the paper filter. It filters much better now and has better airflow and suction. I'm...

I don't know what to say.

Wow! Congratulations on the amazing finds. I especially like the Air-Way!

    Bought my first Hoover

Very nice Celebrities. I've had a few of them. They're not my favorite canisters but they sure are powerful and well made! Right now, I have a baby blue Celebrity II with powerhead. I used to have a Celebrity QS, an orange Celebrity II Elite and one of the unlabled, floating ones that was red...

    Eureka upright vacuum (plastic...no light)

Very nice machines. A few years ago, I used to have THAT model of Eureka. I loved that little vac. It was very quiet and very lightweight. It cleaned carpets well too. I've bought and sold several of these Eurekas over the years. Now I'm looking for a pre-1980's model.

400 vacs for sale during the Convention in June

Still wish I could come! But school is still in session in New York! I would like to come in July, but it looks like I'll miss the big "clear-out." Oh well.

400 vacs for sale during the Convention in June

When is it? We get out of school late because we're in New York. If not, I DO plan to visit the museum before I'm off to college in mid- August.
