Kirby Sentria 2. Will the Avalir shampooer do a better job

Cheaper chemicals... I found a product a year ago called Certi-Foam. A jug is half the cost of Kirby shampoo, and you need only about half of the amount of shampoo per tank of water. This makes using it a quarter of the cost of the Kirby branded shampoo. It's been a while since I shampooed a...

Questions about my "new" Electrolux Model G

I picked up a model G the other day, for a bargain price. It is the later tan model, not the turquoise. I was wondering 2 things. First, what power nozzle would this have had? I know it should be a PN1, but what would the color scheme be? I didn't see any on eBay that matched this machine's...

My small project to restore a Kirby Sentria

I can help you with the drive clicking in neutral. This is because the transmission is not fully disengaging. There is a piece in your transmission behind the neutral/drive pedal called the cam bracket assembly. It disengages a gear to put the transmission in neutral. When the end of the cam...

Electrolux Generic vs OEM hoses question

After multiple emails, 3 phone calls, and 2 visits to Hesco, finally got my hose the other day. I bought their swivel pistol grip hose. Some thoughts on it: -The hose itself seems high quality and crush proof. -The machine end doesn't always want to insert smoothly. It binds going into...

    Kirby Light Bulb Question-

The 12 volts gets tapped off the motor windings.

    Kirby Light Bulb Question-

The Classic Omega to Legend II models can fit a 12V 1156 bulb. From G3 to Diamond Edition a 12V 194 bulb will fit. I've very successfully used automotive LED bulbs in both these applications for a cleaner, brighter light. The older models than those above used a dual contact 120V bulb.

Electrolux Generic vs OEM hoses question

Seriously had thought about doing just that. I'm going to try to be nice though and see how they handle things. I sent an email a little while ago, still awaiting a response. And the tools I did receive are of excellent quality, so I'm hoping if they can finish filling my order that the...

Electrolux Generic vs OEM hoses question

Kirbylux77 - the hose you linked wouldn't work for my machine. It has the wrong machine end connection. I need a hose that fits a Super J. Tried to pick up a new hose from Hesco yesterday. After a long ride home, opened up the box to find that they had removed that item from my order. Not...

    Historic central vacuum system

Alex - those threads were excellent reading! Thanks for pointing us toward those. I never realized that some early vacuum systems were positive displacement rather than centrifugal fans. Very interesting. I actually operate bigger versions of the positive displacement vacuum pumps at work...

Electrolux Generic vs OEM hoses question

Wow. $125 is a lot to put a hose on a machine I paid $7.50 for. LOL. I'm going to pick up one of Hesco's swivel hoses for $30, probably today or tomorrow. While I'd love to stick to genuine parts, the price difference is just too much. If anyone is interested, I'll post photos and thoughts...

    Historic central vacuum system

While I've never seen an older central vac, I can tell you that those look an awful lot like buttons for a dumb waiter. Was there one in the mansion at some point? Man, I'd love to see the mansion. I enjoy vintage architecture and old mechanical systems. Please snap some photos of any other...

Electrolux Generic vs OEM hoses question

How much does a genuine Aerus hose cost? Is it exactly the same as vintage ones? I'm actually in the market for a new hose right now, too.

    TODAY WAS GREAT!!!

Sounds like my day yesterday! I picked up a Rainbow E series with everything for $100, and then in the same area I found a Filter Queen Princess, listed on Offer Up with only a picture, for $35. I also found a Kirby Heritage, which is a model I had been looking for, a few weeks ago at a garage...

    Regina 3-speed ElectrikBroom

I just came across your post. Wow - seeing that brings back memories. We had that same model when I was a kid for tidying up the upstairs. In fact, I've been racking my brain lately trying to remember what it was. Thank you for jogging my memory! Did it end up selling on CL?

Has Anyone tried a Kirby Auto-Restoration?

I've used the Handi Butler on my 519 to polish other machines, but I still haven't gotten around to using it on itself. I think it will feel really strange to see it polish itself.
