New member with a weird idea...

Why not a back pack vacuum or hand carried portable vacuum? They are out there already. Maybe not this particular vacuum but something like it...

    Powermate replacement brush strips

Here is an ebay add for a Powermate. http://www.ebay.com/itm/KENMORE-POWER-NOZZLE-POWERMATE-VACUUM-SWEEPER-Whisper-MATE-Floor-HEAD-ROLLER-/121457451415?pt=US_Vacuum&hash=item1c476da197 This one is Cen-Tec branded but it's the same as what Kenmore sold for many years. What interests me are...

I'm looking for a Centec or Kenmore Powermate

Since shipping is free, this is actually a good deal on what you are looking for. http://www.ebay.com/itm/KENMORE-POWER-NOZZLE-POWERMATE-VACUUM-SWEEPER-Whisper-MATE-Floor-HEAD-ROLLER-/121457451415?pt=US_Vacuum&hash=item1c476da197

    HOLY HELL!

Compare the weight of what the vacuums pick up, not the volume. That is the more accurate measure of a vacuums cleaning ability.

Anyone see the new Panasonic Jet Force canister with the flip up shutter power nozzle?

Here is a kind of unrelated question for Dysonman. The motor Power Team is using in the Perfect C101 is the Lamb 122093. It is a big, honking two stage 5.7 inch central vacuum motor that is rated at a maximum of 13.2 amps. It is one of their Advantek series of motors. Trick stuff. Most...

Anyone see the new Panasonic Jet Force canister with the flip up shutter power nozzle?

Maybe the Power Team Perfect C101 would fill the bill for you? It is certainly an interesting machine. Made in Mexico I think? Dysonman, is that true?

    Finally.....

Save yourself the money and buy a Panasonic MC-CG902. Not a sexy vacuum, but plenty of airflow and suction, real adult sized attachments (they are last generation Kenmore attachments that date back to the 1980s, not the kiddy toys you find on most modern canister vacuums) and the motors are...

One of these is on Craigslist in LA right now for $120. In the one photo it looks pretty nice.

What is your favorite vintage vacuum and your least favorite vacuum?

Favorites? Hmmm. This will arch some eyebrows but my fave is a Panasonic Jet Flo 240. It's a quiet and sophisticated vacuum, lots of suction and you can see the love lavished on them at the factory. Every bit a high end machine. My favorite modern machine is also a Panasonic, the MC-CG-937...

I would like to find a

I have many interesting old Kenmore straight hose canisters I that I cherish and very much enjoy using but sadly use only very occasionally for lack of good hoses. I don't want to use up the three really good hoses I have for them, and one is a unique hose with the on-off switch on it, because...

    The 1962 Vacuum Cleaner Report

It's not all look alike today. Open your eyes. Miele, Sebo, Kenmore, Electrolux, Aerus all have very distinct physical appearances. I think it is especially true of the bagged canisters. Some like Electrolux, Kenmore and Panasonic have some innovation going on in the bag chamber with the bag...

The view of the enthusiast vs the view of someone in the industry couldn't contrast more.

    Came home to two suprises

Way to go with the Kenmore. The two tone blue version is a lust object of many of us. You nailed a really nice one. There was one on ebay last month or the month before that fetched $129 plus shipping. I have to try the O bag. I have been using HEPA bags for Numatic Henrys, doing the same...

    The 1962 Vacuum Cleaner Report

I thought this magazine had pretty standardized objective tests for dirt removal? If they said a certain vac removed less dirt than another I would tend to believe them. It would be nice if some modern magazine had similarly standardized and objective testing criteria for rating vacuums and...

    What happened to "vintagehoover" ?

One aspect of the internet is frustrating. Many items you would like to see in person before you buy are almost impossible to find in any store. The items exist and can be bought at very reasonable prices on line, but few if any stores actually stock the item so you can see it first. There...
