will the real electrolux please stand up !

Amazing...... story about the LUX museum van! Maybe someone will produce a pic of it, maybe even taken with you at the helm! If you had come to my town and I had heard Procol Harum playing from a van that said Electrolux, I would have wandered over.;-) Few people collected things back then...

    A Treasure From My Childhood- - - - - - - -

Thanks.... Dan. I understand now what you're talking about. The new hose I bought for my G has the plastic piece. It was my understanding that the piece keeps the hose from swiveling down there so that the PN cord isn't pulled/stressed. Anyway, my PN is always plugged in that way. Kevin

will the real electrolux please stand up !

Then.... I'm thinking you should have the world's greatest LUX collection ....or access to one?? In any event, please share any inside LUX stories you might have....many of us are starved for more, with regard to LUX!!

    A Treasure From My Childhood- - - - - - - -

Very.... nice;loved the story behind it. "Who" wouldn't want a vacuum from their youth if it wasn't trashed???? Well, maybe a few people, but not me! Kevin

    Electrolux G

You're..... pretty high, especially without a PN. Good luck though! Kevin

what is your favorite vintage vacuum?

Hey..... That Hoover Model 70 with the headlight is very pretty in blue! I think my first vacuum was like that; without the headlight and in pink....bought around '74. Kevin

What is the most $$ you've spend buying or rebuilding an old vacuum?

Which ...... begs the question; WHY?? Was it some one-of-a-kind prototype....came with a jet pack....educate me? Kevin

    LUX MODEL G

Well.... I've re-epoxied many a LUX G wheel and never had one break again. I was playing with my dog once and fell directly on my G, breaking all the wheels. That was like seven yrs ago and a lot of floor miles since.;-) I'm guessing that you broke it at the core and can probably fix it without...

What is the most $$ you've spend buying or rebuilding an old vacuum?

The beauty.... of this hobby is that vacuums for the most part, are cheap to buy with some neglect, or just really dirty. If I had access to large city thrifts, I'd be a regular. Once satiated with working vacuums (yes, I believe there is that point for me!), I would be restoring motors &...

what is your favorite vintage vacuum?

LUX, LUX and LUX...;-) Model G turquoise with the more powerful motor....varoooooom! Love the 1205's, but it's a bit nondescript...warming up to it though! Kevin

Wonderful piece of LUX trivia....would love to see it ready to work on a caddy! Kevin

Kirby & Electrolux Back In The Day Prices

Exactly....the salesman had 'tier prices' depending on how hard you fought & bargained. This was true for Kirby and LUX. A friend tried to sell Kirby's recently and that's still going on. My Diamond J was bought around '83/'84. I think she got out the door with just short of my $600 and sadly...

    Electrolux Model G for parts

I'd be interested in the motor and the body grommet that goes around electric cord (only if it doesn't have any wear dents and it's the correct color). I would have been interested in the handle and bumper, but it looks like those were replaced later and are not turquoise. Hmmmmm...possibly the...

    3 more "thrifty" finds

Oh.... that's OK, Rick. My PayPal account is broken....or maybe my typing arm ...can't remember which. In any event, your pricing seems reasonable for the Gates Foundation folks, so it should be good enough for me. I'll think about it and let you know; don't call me, as I'll call you.;-)

Question about the electrolux model 2100

Rob, I think you are most likely correct on the dates. The ex bought a 2100 around that time and her cleaning 'lady' killed that one; just like she killed the Diamond Jubilee that I originally bought. Now she has something very much like the original DJ that she bought from a dealer....I think...

    Electrolux Model S on eBay

I'm sure you will do a stellar job, Neil. Can't wait to see the pics and yeah, Rick's is stunning to say the least. Kevin

    New to the forum

Neil, I think you're spot-on; collecting interests can & do change over time. I just need to fight the desire to fix anything old I take pity on. And I don't want to become a 'hoarder'....like the people on cable who have aisles between the junk in their houses! However, I feel I should be more...
