Mystery lux

Its the very rare (certainly in UK) swedish built ZA70 CIRCA 1959 - 64?.

Probably 450 watts...ish.

No idea what the original tools were like.

thanks Walter, so a ZA 70, ok.
I cannot remember having seen it in our country ever. Only the Z 65.
Seems like Electrolux has as many gaps in their timeline as Kirby does (variations and other models popping up now and again). And I wonder whether a 100% complete and concise list exists at all (let alone all those second brand and third brand extensions, Volta, Tristar and those).
And why do they call their models "Z" or "U something", later changing to "D"? Puzzling...

Lux 70

One thing about European Luxes is that there are leads of varities on a theme, but occasionally something like this comes up. I learned about it on the yahoo Hooverland forum, where a picture was posted by a guy from Finland. This was a real surprise - the date given by that poster was 1957 which ties in with what Walter says - what was the real surprise it me was that this style did not emerge in the UK until 1969 as the Lux 91, and in many ways became the template for cannister cleaners for many many years. I think I may have a pic at home of the 70, from memory it had a caddy with fitted on the body on which you could store tools in teh same manner as the Lux XXX.

LOL - guess its time for me to dig into the files of pictures from unknown sources again. This is what the Z70a looked like with parts and attachment caddy.

As for the designations. To my Knowledge ZA refered to being made in Sweden, ZB was made in Canada, ZC was made in England and I believe ZE was made in Australia (I'm not certain if there was a ZD - Germany perhaps?)
