    Vax U89-MA-Te Air Total Home

I like the Vax Air range. Vax's entry level machines are dreadful but the Air range are pretty good, especially now they've redesigned the brushroll. Good value for money too.

That's cool. Dirt Devil always did good toy Vac's. When I was little, I always wanted one of these, but never got one. I had a toy Turbopower, Lux 550 & Lux Contour though

In Memory of Our Sebo oracle - Narayan Kundu

Absolutely devastated at this news! Myself and Nar had many hours of chatting over the years over our common vacuum and music interests. He will be very much missed! RIP, Nar! Make sure those upstairs know how to look after their carpets!

Thanks Stan, I knew it was something like that

    Kirby Sentria only 40 euros

40 Euro's for a Sentria is insane! What a bargain, well done Marcus. Even if you didn't want it, you could sell it on for 5 times that amount. Are Kirby cleaners popular in Finland?

    Electrolux Contour - London

It's from an eBay listing of a vacuum that Alex got from me lol! It's not actually a Pulse model, it's a Variopower with the wrong hood on it AND the brushroll is threadbare.

James Dyson: "The EU should spur invention, not mediocrity"

Isn't there already a limit on vacuums in the US, but in AMPS? I believe the most powerful you can get is 12 AMP (about 1200w?)...correct me if I'm wrong.

    Got A Kirby Avalir!

I disagree. The Heritage 2 and Legend 2 had a good balance between size, weight and sturdiness. Some of the older models like the DS80 were lovely and light too. The G3 onwards is made heavier by the TechDrive. Bit of a catch 22, if it didn't have TechDrive, it would've need TechDrive.

    I bought another Kirby...

I agree Jamie, they are very large for the smaller average British semi-detached and terraces, although if you have larger rooms, they can and do work well. The Legend 2 is actually one of more practical Kirby's, the G series and especially the Sentria's are enourmous.

    Got A Kirby Avalir!

To be honest Stan, I think all the G Series are pretty much the same in terms of performance, the refinements over the years have all been to the tech drive and tools. I do wonder how far Kirby can go with this design - I honestly thought the Sentria was the peak.

    Got A Kirby Avalir!

One of my neighbours has just upgraded from a Sentria to an Avalir. Something I thought was a rather pointless move for a none-collector/enthusiast.

    I bought another Kirby...

Jamie, courtesy of Charlie Lester's lovely site, here are the production dates for Kirbys. The first Kirby sold in the UK was the Classic Omega, so I've only included that model onwards. Also, the G3 was delayed in the UK and the Legend 2 ran well into 1992. The G3 was only sold for around a...

    NEW Vorwerk Kobold VK200

British vac makers can now go back to offering 2000 watt Slightly off topic, sorry, but the only British manufacturer left is Numatic have have never made a vacuum that powerful. Highest they ever wet to is 1200w. They also have a huge market across Europe, so I don't see them making 2...

Do your dogs/cats lke to get vacuumed?

Absolutely not. If I even so much as look at the vacuum without intent of turning it on, our cat will run away and hide.

    Nib haul

I have the brochure for these somewhere. They're not actually anything to do with Hoover. In 1988, the Robot company bought the patents and designs for the discontinued Hoover Junior and started producting it under their own name. The design is virtually identical, but the quality was no where...

Advice on buying a new vacuum cleaner?

Hi Nish, Glad to be of help and glad you're pleased with the Henry :). The normal straight-suction floortool will be good for any hard floors you have, but make sure you press the pedal to put the brushes down. Happy vacuuming! Chris

Advice on buying a new vacuum cleaner?

n0oxy, please bear in mind that powernozzle cylinder/canister cleaners are not popular and not widely available in the UK. Only a very few brands offer them and they're very expensive. Outside of collectors, I don't actually know anyone who owns one. As Nish has already said the buget is...
