    Royal Power Tank 4000

This looks like the power nozzle you have. Hesco is a good vacuum part website, so they should hopefully have what you need. http://www.elkypro.com/hoops2005/vacuum_parts/royal/52.html

Hoovers Used in Schools Back in the Day

My school uses the most basic sanitaire model and proteam backpack vacs.

    Wireless options

I'd recommend the Hoover Platinum LiNX Stick Vac. It's battery lasts about 20 minutes without losing power, and picks up as well as most of my canisters. You can also use it on carpet, though mainly for surface cleaning.

    Interested in a new vacuum

If it is just flat carpet I would recommend a used Oreck. Short carpet was what those vacuums were designed for, and I see the lower end models on Craigslist all the time for around $30 or $40. You could probably find a small canister for less than $50 for above floor cleaning.

    Hoover 541 questions

No, I think the cord should look like this. I'm not sure if the plug on my 541 is original though. http://www.vacuumland.org/TD/JPEG/VINTAGE/2012/mieles7++12-20-2012-18-51-37.jpg

    Hoover 541 questions

I recently got a 541 too. This thread from November should have a lot of useful information. http://www.vacuumland.org/cgi-bin/TD/TD-VIEWTHREAD.cgi?19083

    kirby heritage noise on tv

The heritage sound was probably just a stock vacuum noise used so the vacuum wouldn't mess with the sound as it was being filmed.

Please help me choose a vacuum!

I had a Hoover Platinum for a couple weeks. Compared to Oreck, the build quality wasn't the greatest and the vacuum didn't seem to pull itself forward in the carpet as much as the Orecks I have.

Please help me choose a vacuum!

How about a Riccar Supralite and Supraquik canister? Both of those are powerful yet lightweight vacuums. You could also check out the Royal Everlast series of uprights. They are completely metal, less that 16 lb, and designed for large areas of carpet.

    Miele Solaris Canister Vacuum

It's probably just carbon dust form the motor. A few of my vintage vacuums have this issue, but it's nothing to be worried about.

    Vac shops

Though I don't own a vacuum store, two store only brands I would recommend based on personal experience are Sebo and Riccar. Both are very durable and easy to work on. Another brand I've heard a lot about is the Italian made Lindhaus. Pretty much the Kirby of plastic vacuum, but still very...

    LOVING CONNIE

I've got a green model, which I use relatively often. They're fun vacuums to use.

    Simplicity Synergy X9 or G9?

The Simplicity Synchrony, Synergy, and 7 series all have metal base plates standard, and the Vibrance doesn't require a switch to be turned for attachment use. From what I have read on this site, Miele parts are very expensive and take a long time to ship. Besides, Miele S7 bags are about $19...

    Modernizing a mystery Kirby

I'm pretty sure that a Heritage or Legend mini emtor and bag will work on any kirby made before 1990. The Kirby looks like a Dual Sanitronic 50.

    kirby g6

    They're all the same vacuum. I've never seen a G6 2002 though.

    Simplicity Synergy X9 or G9?

Riccar has a comparison between all the tandem air vacuum,s on their website which might help. I think the premium also has a longer hose.
