Just had a look at the Canadian site of SEBO. Seems that there is a D1 model now/straight suction. It may have been on that site for some time - I'm surprised that the U.S have still to get this model, or at least any D series canister that doesn't have the electric power nozzle. After my cousin from NYC stayed with me for a month she was really impressed with mine and wanted to get one, but she doesn't like the electric hose and agreed that the standard one is much lighter and easier to use..

Do voltage currents change between Canadian appliances and American ones? i.e could it be possible to use a Canadian market vacuum in the U.S??

Thank you Gary/Countryguy - that answer is just what I need to pass on. She'll be more than happy to order the D1 from Canada; it has the standard lighter hose as standard.

The SEBO D4 means that it has the electronic adjustment on the handle, which also means the electric embedded cord in the hose. My cousin has already tried the D4 Premium in NYC and with the Parquet brush head but felt the hose wasn't as free to use - that was in my initial post on here.

The D4 you provided the link to Ian shows the one with the heavier hose/electronic suction on the handle.
