    Electrolux upright

Hi Paul. Yeah, sorry your overall experience wasn't positive at Aerus franchises. Actually, the white cleat didn't bother me after it was installed. I believe the RS was the 8.1A version, but it seemed to have pretty good suction nonetheless. I have heard that suction wasnt the best when the...

    Electrolux upright

Well, the folks in the Aerus store here are generally nice, but are also quick to tell you this or that about your "old" vacuum. They mostly want to sell you a new machine, and I understand that to a degree. They are in business after all to make money. They did have a genuine Aerus cord cleat...

    Electrolux upright

So, I went by the local Aerus store today and picked up a new brushroll, belt and the cord holder. I understood they would be more expensive than online stores when it comes to parts, but I didn't realize brushrolls were $50. I would rather support a local store but that was a lot to swallow...

    Electrolux upright

Edgar, Regarding your switch, I wonder if cleaning the contacts on the switch would allow it to start working again. Than was the issue with the RS I picked up. Cleaning it with a few sprays of Deoxit fixed the switch. Although, yours could be an electrical issue. Did you try replacing the...

    Electrolux upright

Thanks Paul! These are great tips! The wheels actually don;t turn as easily as they should so I'll be sure to oil them..what do you use.. something like 3-in-1 oil or more of a bearing grease? The local Aerus store said they can fit me a cord holder on it, so I'll take it by sometime.

    Our new Bissell

You should be able to find many decent used vacuums for less than $80. If the wand constantly detaches from the hose, I'd send it back to Amazon for a refund and find something else. That shouldn't happen on a new machine. Also, many vacuums have inexpensive bags that can be bought online.

    Electrolux upright

Thanks Jimmy. I tried pushing the plug connector down further into the bulkhead, but it will not seat any further. I did however manage to slide the rubber cord holder further up the vacuum handle. I may call the local Aerus store to see if they have a spare cord hook.

    Electrolux upright

Ah, I see now. Well, I think I will gift this vacuum to my aunt who has several indoor animals. Her Oreck appears to have bit the dust and she was given a loaner Oreck from my parents. I think this Electrolux will clean the carpets better as her house basically has nothing but carpet throughout...

    Here is my Legacy

Nice! I have always liked the Electrolux tanks. They clean so well and have a lot of suction!

    Electrolux upright

Thanks Edgar and Paul. So, if I understand correctly, the power cord on my Regency was probably changed at some point? I didn't realize that the plug in cords were not original. I just figured this model and similar era Lux uprights came that way. I saw a few other Regency Series vacs online...

    Electrolux upright

Thanks for all the great information. Luckily, I have never come across any of the uprights with the ponytail cord connection. I recall reading a bad experience by someone on this forum with an Electrolux store regarding the recall and their refusal to honor the free repair. Anyways, as Andy...

    Electrolux upright

I found this Electrolux Regency Series upright vacuum, model 1572E at a thrift store this week. I tested it in the store and the carpet setting on the switch wouldn’t engage the brush roller. Probably the reason it was taken to the thrift store in the first place. But, I figured for the $6.98...

Hoover Air Revolve Canister Vacuum - $34.99...

Thanks Patrick. I received the same message today that my order was still processing: "Your order is currently still processing. Due to high order volume, orders may take 5-7 business days to process. Once your order ships you will receive email confirmation of that with the FedEx tracking...

I was robbed, robbed I tell you

I've had that happen many times. The best thing to do (for your own sanity) is enter the maximum you are willing to pay for the item, then walk away. If you sit there and keep refreshing, you will likely end up paying more than you wanted to and potentially regret your decision to spend so much...

For those that ordered from the Direct Tools website, about how long did it take for you to receive your tracking info following your purchase?

Finally a new vacuum I am impressed with

@kenkart I'm sure your house is perfectly clean! No vacuum (that I am aware of) will capture everything. I think both straight suction vacuums and those that agitate the carpet with a beater bar are both good.

Finally a new vacuum I am impressed with

@kenkart ...and you can go behind any straight suction vacuum with a revolving brush and still capture dirt that was left behind by the previous vacuum. No vacuum is perfect.

    Christmas gift advice!

You might want to check out this vacuum from a recent thread on here: https://www.vacuumland.org/cgi-bin/TD/TD-VIEWTHREAD.cgi?37495_45 It's bagless, but $25 is a great deal for a Hoover! Many vacuum enthusiasts frown at bagless, but if your sister isn't one, she probably wouldn't care if it...

    Christmas gift advice!

Most of the older Electrolux canister models can be had fairly cheap. I often find them at thrift stores in my area, but they show up on eBay all the time as well. Models like the 1401, 1505 are pretty robust. The plastic bodied Electrolux Epic models also are very nice machines.

    Christmas gift advice!

Does it have to be a new vacuum? I personally would have no issue with receiving a used bagged vacuum as a gift, but some may not like this. If it has to be a new vacuum and money is tight, you may consider something like the Bissell Zing. It received 4 out of 5 starts on Amazon from over...
