I am guessing that after Electrolux rebuilt the machines they probably operated just like new!

I too am curious about this program. I had a rebuilt 1401 Electrolux but I ended up giving it away after I found the Epic 6500. The 1401 had the same hammer tone gray paint. Did they all have this same color scheme and tag?

Thanks Lux14. Yes, I tried all settings on the dial, but I will take it apart and try it again and make sure the clear vacuum tunes going to the control valve are cleaned out.

I know this is an old post, but I am having this issue with my Epic 6500. I recently purchased a new control valve online, but the vacuum would cut off as soon as the hose was connected. The original valve malfunctioned at some point and I just disconnected the bag full indicator and this fixed...

Yes, the bristles do look a little bit sparse. Do you think someone swapped in a used brushroll before selling it or does it actually appear to be new?

What's the build quality of the hose on the side? Also, not sure how I feel about those touch pad controls; seems like something that could potentially break overtime and render the vacuum useless.
