    1950's Kitchens.

I was interested to see kitchen units like mine on a recent episode of the television series "Call The Midwife".

    1950's Kitchens.

I am planning on refurbishing my kitchen in a 1950's style. I have bought some "English Rose" kitchen units, that I am going to restore and install. I would be very grateful for any ideas on kitchen design and colour schemes of the period. Thanks, Robin.

    What do YOU consider Vintage..

I know that this is not really an answer to the original question, but rather an explanation as to how I decided where to draw the line with my collection. My main interest is in Hoover upright machines. Even this one range consists of a vast number of different models and obviously new...

31/05/2014, a date for your diaries - the UK vacuumland meet up

Hi Chris, Thank you very much for all your efforts in trying to organise an event for us. I am very sorry to hear that there are not enough people who will be able to attend. It will be nice if some kind of meeting can be arranged, even if it is a small informal affair. Regards, Robin.

    Any info on this??

I have got one of those, but I acquired it with a job lot of vacuum cleaners and I don't know any more about it than you do. Robin.

Does anyone else ever get really depressed about their collections?

I find that having more than one hobby helps. I collect classic cars as well as vacuum cleaners. If I get sick of one hobby for a while, then I can think about the other. I have twelve classic cars and approximately eighty five vacuums. I think that is a good start, but there are plenty more...

31/05/2014, a date for your diaries - the UK vacuumland meet up

Sorry, I haven't been on vacuumland for a while and I had't read this thread. I will hopefully be able to attend. Thank you very much for taking the time to arrange the event. Robin.

You are all realy nice people.

On the subject of actually meeting people in person, it would be good if we could arrange some gatherings in the UK some time. I have never actually met a fellow vacuum cleaner collector. Robin.

    The Vintage Hoover Emporium

Please can anyone tell me what has happened to the "Vintage Hoover Emporium" website? I found it a very valuable source of reference and I hope that it hasn't been lost. Robin.

    History book

I have seen the book "The Vacuum Cleaner A History" by Carroll Gantz advertised and I was wondering whether anyone could give me a brief review of it.

    Hotpoint light n easy

Here is a picture of the switch as requested. I was very fortunate to be given this machine, along with an earlier Hotpoint Junior, by an elderly friend. I just happened to visit him on the way home from collecting a Hoover. Regards, Robin.

    Why Collect Vacuums?

I started collecting vacuum cleaners when I decided that I needed an indoor hobby to supplement my main hobby of collecting classic cars. Vacuums are a good thing to collect because there are a huge number of different models, even from a single manufacturer, and they are reasonably inexpensive...

    Hotpoint light n easy

I have a Light n Easy in my collection. I don't know anything about it, but I assume that it dates from the early 1970s. It is white with a turquoise handle grip and furniture guard. I will try to take a photograph of it and post it on here. Robin.

Can Someone Tell Me The Story Of The Hoover Junior 1334E??

Just to add an extra complication to the story, I have a 1334E that has the grey bag and grey front plate, but it has an upper cable hook. I was under the impression that the 1334E was an economy model and the upper hook was omitted in order to reduce manufacturing cost. I assumed that my...
