31/05/2014, a date for your diaries - the UK vacuumland meet up

VacuumLand – Vintage & Modern Vacuum Enthusiasts

Help Support VacuumLand:

Hi folks,

Firstly, a MASSIVE thank you to those who paid up and expressed interest in the event.

Now, I know I said 06/08 to pay up by, but the venue want a 50% deposit (£400) by then. With only 12 confirmed attending and 5 people paid up, the chances of having this money available by then are zilch.

I did what I promised. I arranged the event and held the venue pending attendance and threw it out there to see what would happen.

Sadly, I can't see such a large scale event being called for with such few people, so I am cancelling.

I'm incredibly conscious that I don't want to end up losing money over an event that may or may not get off the ground, so until further notice, this is cancelled. Those who paid up have been refunded.

I am looking into a smaller scale event, and will be discussing this with a few of our key members around these parts initially and throw some ideas around.

Thanks folks and watch this space. A UK meet up will happen, I assure you.

Sorry for having to cancel though - I tried my best.

all the best,
Chris

Hi Chris,

Thank you very much for all your efforts in trying to organise an event for us. I am very sorry to hear that there are not enough people who will be able to attend.

It will be nice if some kind of meeting can be arranged, even if it is a small informal affair.

Regards,

Robin.

I would of liked to have gone but it was difficult for me to commit to a date so far in the future as I'm wanting my own place and not particularly wanting to stay here in Derbyshire so it just made it hard to commit (although I understand that these things have to be booked well in advance!).

Also I didn't feel like I would be able to contribute much as most people seem interested in older vacuums and I like new ones :s

That's not true, Dan. Jack (DysonAnimal/VintageHoover - he doesn't come on here so much these days) has been to a number of meet up's over the years and kept us all up to date with many modern cleaners, especially Dyson. Even though a lot of us don't collect modern machines, it's still good to understand what is happening in the market.

Good luck with the move, Dan. How old are you? I was 18 when I left home and it was the best thing I ever did. Even though I love my family dearly, your reach a point where you just need your own space.
