You just need to wait until the motor is noisy and dry-sounding. Try running the motor without the belt on it and listen to see if it makes any strange noises. If it does, you should lubricate the bearings.

Please note: You will need to take the hood off to get your Convertible taken apart to the point mentioned at the beginning of the thread. There will be two screws underneath your Convertible that hold the hood on. Also, some of your Convertibles may not have the speed switch that is mentioned...

It might be a Singer! Is this a twin-fan? If so, then it is a Singer. I know that Singer made vacuum cleaners for Sears back then.

There is no basis that you necessarily need to follow for greasing these machines. Just listen to the machine and if it is making strange noises, go ahead and grease the brushroll and motor bearings.
