Do you remember your household vacs?

For my great grandma: Electrolux Golden J Jubilee (motor exploded when my mom was using it) replaced with an Electrolux Olympia One on trade-in, and she also had a Hoover Elite soft bag. For my grandma: Oreck XL For my mom & me: Eureka Boss World Vac, then a Kirby Ultimate G for upstairs...

    Anyone into carpet sweepers?

1977 on the Whisk-It, originally retailed for $13.95. 1978 on the Century II, originally retailed for $39.95. It's possible your family bought the Whisk-It and then realized it didn't work that great and them splurged on the more expensive model to see if it would do a better job.

Paint color for Electrolux Olympia Brown

Also another option if you don't want to spend so much money on paint matching a pint of paint (if it's for a small little chip or scratch) - you can see if Testors has a color match in their range of little hobby paints for model kits. These little jars usually only cost about $1 or so.

Paint color for Electrolux Olympia Brown

Bring the back end cap or the inside of the bag door into the hardware store and have it color matched?

    Anyone into carpet sweepers?

I had a couple I played with as a kid, thrift store finds. One of them was that Whisk It. The other was a Daisy. I have a bunch of carpet sweepers now I will pick up if the price is right (less than $15) but I won't go out of my way to get one. They are pretty easy to repair, but gets a bit...

    And Now .....THE CONVERTIBLE LIST!!!!!!!

Wow that certainly is a lot of information. Next would be to put the photos of the vacuums with the info below into a binder, 1 page for each vacuum. Would be the ultimate flip guide.

Part replacement for Hoover Elite U5093-940 fan (38755-007 aka 43565006)

They show up on eBay maybe 3-4 times per year. Just save a search and wait for someone to list one and put the vac in storage until someone lists a part. For the cracked fan chamber that will have to be plasti-welded to fix the crack. There is a newer model of fan impeller with 20 blades under...

Heads Up!! Dirt Devil/Royal hand vac bag adaptors for sale on Ebay!

I think one of the hand vacs I got has one of these fitted. When I picked it up I heard a crumpling noise and went "huh?" and then I felt this long hard tube inside. I think it was one of these adapters and a paper bag inside it. The bag felt full and I was not behooved to open it up and make a...

    Feesbay or Fleabay,

If you bought them from Electric Vac, they have a bad seller reputation. 20 negatives in a month, 110 in a year. That's not a good track record for a retail store. I have bought from them before - or tried to - from their website. They had a part I needed and it said in stock. A week after I...

CB variant of the Elux Bronze Model G

That machine has been really well cared for, no signs of pitting in the metal or anything. For someone to buy it and looks like never use it, just is incredible. The gold color looks lovely on this cleaner. It goes really well with the chrome. It is amazing if you think about it, how many...

    Metal Royal Attachments

I can't say to what brand, but I've seen rubber funnel plugs like those on carpet shampooer tanks.

    Hoover Professional Decade 80.

Good luck, Scott! Someone must be unloading their janitorial business, because I've never seen that many light-commercial vacs in one place.

A little pet peeve I have...

As I understand though this dirt cup system was a flawed design and didn't always work, or it kept clogging up, I forget what the consensus was. Forgot to add there was an Elite style one too that had the bag on the front.

A little pet peeve I have...

Hoover and Sanitaire both made bagless commercial uprights in the 90s and 00's but they never really took off. They are out there though.

    MY NEW VINTAGE KIRBY WEBSITE!

Looks great! Did you re-create the lettering script too or was that all just masked off and painted around? Always amazing to see how good the metal is under all that tarnish, you wouldn't think it would survive and turn out so cleanly.

    dial set Olympia One

A comment from Gary Saarimaki that can be found here; https://www.vacuumland.org/cgi-bin/TD/TD-VIEWTHREAD.cgi?43594 "Just so you know...the dial settings from 1 to 6 are not for suction...they control at what point the machine will automatically shut off depending on the type of dirt being...

    What is this vacuum?

Alex is on the right track about it being a PowerPro but I'm certain there's a swoop to the backside of the handle that curves inward. The handle has a "D" shape.

    What is this vacuum?

It's definitely DustBuster that attaches to a contraption to form a stick vac, that's not a display stand.
