I need a Panasonic canister. Wonder if they ever did a bagged (cloth or paper) compact version with full-size tools?? Thats what i want!

    The Angle Game: What's this?

Is the bag velour? I'm curious about the rubber-mounted motor. Rubber mounts can really help hush bearing noise, but how did it age? What a relief it must be to have a cleaner with "no loose, annoying outside cords"!

Yay Panasonic... one of the more under appreciated brands.

I need help on my sanitaire

Yes, the bearing can be replaced. See the 1400 bearing thread thats up right now. In my experience, the heavy duty Eureka motors have very long lasting bearings. Ive serviced Sanitaire machines that have seen heavy daily use and their bearings sound smooth as silk. Seems most techs would...

I need help on my sanitaire

Ive been using the nylon "Durafan". Its supposed to be more shatter-resistant than the standard Lexan. #77247355n Lexan #12988 These are for the double ball-bearing, pancake (heavy duty) motors.

    Eureka 1400 lower bearing replacement

is something wrong with the current bearing? they are usually long lasting. i believe the old rivets have to be drilled out, then re-riveted once a new bearing and retaining plate is in place. Hesco and some vac shops should be able to supply the "lower bearing kit" You'll likely need a rivet...

    Anyone recognize this Convertible?

Correction: the main casting changed to ABS, not Lexan. I refer to this style as the "Ranger"-style. I believe these were common in the UK as Ranger and has this style motor cover.

Seamus, last time i checked the dished cast aluminum brush strips were still current. This was before TTI, though. When did production of 912a begin in the UK? Seems in the US the model was designated 913 then 918 sometime in the late 60s or early 70s? I know in the US our 913 started as a two...

    Hoover Vacuum on Freecycle

Good carpet cleaner... but the belt change procedure is fussy. The 7+amp models are also kinda loud. You will want to avoid inhaling coins or stones with these machines. The type A bags are easy to find, but the belts sometimes are not.

    Hoover Vacuum on Freecycle

Wow, you must really like Elites, huh? Similar to this machine, though likely less-deluxe hose. Who knows what color.

Whats strange about the dusting tools? I guesstimate this machine is from around 1977.

Thanks for starting this thread, Seamus. And thanks Stephen for those Hooverland scans. I cant believe the UK Dual-Purpose (Elite/Turbolite-style) cleaner is promoted as being quiet running! What were they comparing it to??

I think i prefer the agitator update on the latter UK models. The US models stuck with this older-style agitator till the end. Notice the edge-to-edge sweeping of the Conquest. The US Conquest had the same dirt collection system as Seamus's cleaner.
