the motor Hi, here is the motor with the fan removed, then the bottom plate and bearing. You can see the retainer clip for the bearing, and 70+ years of dirt. The grease in the bearing is dryed out and filthy. I'll clean it in solvent and repack it. Thanks for the interest and words of...

new wire on socket Here's the 1st part done. I used a little liquid electrical tape on the insulator cap since it was so brittle, and on the screws just to insure they don't loosen, just a little safety insurance. I used the colored tape since there were 3 wires, avoids confusion later.

handle and socket pic Hi Fred, thanks. That's correct about the receptacle. I use a small piece of wooden dowel to tap it out so it doesn't get damaged. A fine tip pair of needle nose pliers is helpful in getting the socket out, sort of pull and twist and be patient. The wires I'll replace...

How many of you use vintage machines to clean your house's?

that's all I use Usually my Constellation and 725. Once in awhile I'll use the attachments on the 725, mostly just for fun. Excuse the mess I've been trying to get ready to move for awhile.

    Cloth vac Bags

I think... From what I can tell at least the older ones were made of close knit heavy cotton twill or duck. I've found a really close match in a fabric store. You shouldn't have a problem finding the material. When I have the time I am planning on making a pattern from an unusable bag and...

Hi, I found it yesterday. Just have to remove it. I have no clue as far as how much. Does $10 sound fair? I'll pack it so it won't get bent. You can email me on yahoo if you want, davortho10. Sincerely, Jay

New handle yoke for my Hoover 541

I think I do. Hi, I do have one. It will take me a few days at least to find it in storage. Let me know if you're interested. I think it came off of a "Special", so it has paint on it you'll have to remove. Jay

I appreciate the input Thanks for the suggestions, sort of what I was thinking, but it's really nice to have 2nd opinions. I'm going to try the epoxy I think, if I can find a close color. I'll post a pic. of the connie, and some before and after shots too. Hope everybody is having a great...

I would like to repaint just the bottom edge of the "skirt" where it meets the floor so it will glide more easily. And, I was wondering if anyone had a suggestion or thought on a really durable paint I could use. Thanks, Jay

    Hoover Outer Bag Question

Doug Your very welcome, always glad to try and help. There's one shop here that has a fair amount of older parts, and they're always very helpful. I've found brushroll brushes for my 300 there, and for the older hoovers too. Plus other little odds and ends. Jay
