I have a Hoover upright vacuum cleaner Model U4423 that needs a new outer zipper bag. I was told by my repair shop that this part is NLA. I believe this vacuum was purchased in 1986. If anyone knows where I could purchase this item, I'd greatly appreciate the info. My email is: [email protected].

Thanks -- Doug

Yep.

They are NLA... from Hoover.

We even tried ordering some bojack outer bags from ESSCO, and same story.

I find it hard to believe that everyone just all of a sudden decided to stop making them. As sad as it is... it has been 15 years since they've produced a domestic version of the Convertible. Maybe they'll bring one back, a la the Constellation.

Your best bet would be to call around mulitple vac shops, in your area, or even out of state. Most places should be willing to ship, and I'm sure that a good number of shops have some stock of them.. genuine or otherwise.

outer bag

they can still be found on eBay. and indeed, many shops still have them. im sure you will find several in Pa. that will ship one to you. and you can always use the commercial bag assembly. it is made for commercial models but fits all the old convertibles as well. it uses the type A paper bag.

Thanks!

I saw the bag on ebay for the commercial model, but I didn't know it would fit my vacuum. Thanks for your replies -- I appreciate your help! I hope to keep my sweeper running for a long time -- it's built like a tank.

There's a shop here in Tulsa that might have something. I have found a number of much older parts there before. I can check if you want. Will take a few days probably. Jay

color

It's blue with a white metal handle, black tip. I had checked ebay before I posted to this site for outer bags and came up empty. The day after I checked again and found several -- I got a cream colored one -- which shouldn't look too bad. The current bag is blue & white stripes.

Thanks to Jay for the offer to check in Tulsa. I'm hoping it's in good shape for a while; I just had a belt replaced 2 or 3 months ago. I have a newer Kenmore Canister sweeper that I mostly just use for bare floors. I had new carpet installed last year and the Kenmore couldn't handle it -- must be too thick. The old Hoover just plows right through it!

Your very welcome, always glad to try and help. There's one shop here that has a fair amount of older parts, and they're always very helpful. I've found brushroll brushes for my 300 there, and for the older hoovers too. Plus other little odds and ends. Jay
