Exactly.
You betcha there are exceptions. Sebo, Lindhaus, Kenmore 600 Series, Titan and Cirrus uprights are all high quality durable products. Add Metrovac and Patriot to the list though expensive. The Aerus Legacy and Classic too. For all the carping we do here about Aerus those two are still solid products that will give you two decades with minimal or no trouble given reasonable care.
I have had enough old cars to disagree with that. And I have seen plenty of vintage Kenmores with burned up motors ( commutators segments melted and smeared together ) and even heat warped bodies.
I suppose I shouldn't have generalized, over here most old stuff is better.
