Paid Dyson and Shark reviews plaguing internet

There were a lot of bad reviews by sites that should not review vacuums when the V10 first came out. Several of the tech youtube channels I watch reviewed them. Clearly, Dyson's marketing people were told to push this to the tech community via social media / youtube. The last two examples in...

    Vacuum bag fragrance

I have never used any vacuum freshener that worked once the bag started to fill. They cover the odor with fragrance at best. A fresh bag, a water filtration vac or a well cleaned bagless vac are my solutions to stinky bags. Getting rid of my dogs might be another solution. I'd get rid of the...

    shark may be in trouble

Agree with @miles_v. I've own and have used a lot of nice bagged upright and canister vacuums including all the favorites - rainbow, miele and kirby. And I thought Dyson was plastic crap. But I've got to say that my little Dyson V8 gets a lot of use. It is super easy, gets into tight spaces...

Rainbow Minijet is kind of fragile

I've used my minijet quite a bit and not hand any issue with it. It's quite handy for pets.

    Riccar Supralite Cordless

How does the cordless Freedom sound? I love my corded Supralight, but it is a bit loud. Lack of tools doesn't really bother me. The machine is so light, I can pick it up and vacuum large furniture and beds on low speed and that low speed also works well on hard surfaces. And speaking of low...

Full Presentation of the Dyson V10 Unveiling

I have been using the V8 for a couple of years and have only had to give it a thorough, take it apart cleaning once. And that was just because it was starting to smell a little doggy. It would not be my only vacuum, nor the 'if you could only have one' machine, but it's darned convenient...

Bagless cleaners are better than Bagged cleaners.

I only watched it for a couple of minutes. He didn't annoy, but it didn't interest me. Stinky vacuums are one of my pet peeves. And because I have dogs, my bagged vacuums often do smell as the bag gets full. Scented beads just cover up the smell. Charcoal sort of works, but bags always...

    Kirby/Rainbow

@markhenry - Yes, much merrit. The best vacuum is the one that gets used, and if the vacuum is difficult to use, it may not get used as frequently. Personally, while I like my Rainbow, I sure would not have to take it out, set it up, take it apart and clean it every time I wanted to vacuum...

    Kirby/Rainbow

With regard to the video clip of the Kirby test, I think the guy works for a dealer that sells Miele. I have seen him do a Sebo vs. Miele canister review and he gave the thumbs up, by a hair, to the Sebo. So although he likes Miele, I think he is capable of liking other products as well...

    Particle counter testing

Thanks, vacuumdevil. Apparently, running quietly was also not their mission.

What would you say is the prettiest upright vacuum that is currently available for sale?

The Riccar / Simplicity Supralight / ??? twins look pretty good. I like their simplicity and lack of onboard tools. For an upright with tools, the Sebo X and G vacs look nice. They look slim enough to fit under furniture when folded flat. And for the ugliest, I'd pick most of the 'plasticy'...

    Dyson Light Ball design fault

I don't find the Dysons good looking at all. To me, they look like cheap transformer toys. I have a V8 and do use it. While certainly no replacement for a mains powered vac, it is convenient. And while I'd be curious to try one of their AC powered uprights. Who knows? Perhaps I'd actually...

Time To Start Over?; Is Badge-Engineering Bad For Vacuums

Seems kind of pointless to have two different names for pretty much the same vacuum - looking at you Tacony. I have 2 of them and even I sometimes can't remember if they are Simplicity or Riccar.

What's With The Hate On New Vacuums?

I don't think its a 'hate on' new vacuums. If the vacuums in question are the ones in the original post, it's more a dislike of cheap, throw away vacuums from big box stores. Many of them may clean well enough, after having experienced high quality, high end vacuums, those cheap ones seem . ...

    Miele upright vacuum

RE Pawn brokers - I was not getting at what types of vacuums they would accept, but rather what types of people need to use pawn brokers to get extra cash. The same type that would need pay day loans. And would be scammed into buying over priced products from door to door salesmen. Agree with...
