    Loose dial-a-matic handle, any advice?

Hi Tom: You have a beautiful collection! Are those lavender Constellations on the shelf? What did you use to hang the DAM's on the wall? What a shame that there was no distinct warning on the vaccuum itself not to lift the DAM by it's handle. Weren't they worried about the liability of a...

I wonder what could be in here?

Oh Greg, that "eat a hole in the rug" comment had me roaring! I remember hearing similar remarks as well! Glad to see Jack's nose hit paydirt again!! At least you know that he will be able to dig up the occasional snake this spring! LOL These are all beautiful machines that have ended up in the...

Scott & Fetzer Home Sanitation System

Great site! Thanks for the link Bruce! I perused all of the vacuums listed. I thought the name "Scott and Fetzer" sounded familiar. I remembered the name being associated with firearms production. Kind of funny, part of the company manufactured something that projected items, and part of the...

Scott & Fetzer Home Sanitation System

Excuse the ignorance but.... What was the deal between Scott and Fetzer and Kirby? Did they merge, or did one of the founders break away to form their own company? How long were the S&F's manufactured under that name? Great vacuum Greg! You find the best stuff!!

    Electrolux Aptitude

Hey Clay! Funny that you mention the Aptitude. I saw them at Lowe's yesterday. They had been marked down to $199.00. I guess they couldn't hide behind the Electrolux "high end cleaner" mask anymore.

    My Brand New electrolux Intensity

I did manage to visit Lowe's yesteray and saw the Intensity for myself. It was surprisingly heavy; not at all what I imagined (broom-vac lightness). I pulled it down off of the display and rolled it around. It seemed to be pretty easy to push around; at least on the linoleum flooring. I too...

    Convertible U4173

Value-able Vacuum!! Great find and great collection Pete! We've started nicknaming Value Village "Valueless Village" around here. The one we visited on Tuesday had a couple of junky Bissells. You are so fortunate to have one that gets some pretty neat stuff. The pattern on the new find seems...

    My Brand New electrolux Intensity

Lawnboy or Lux? Hey Marty: I thought the same thing when I first saw the Intensity. It reminds me of a child's toy lawnmower. So Skip, how is the manueverability? I'll be popping into my local Lowe's today to check it out.

    Hoover turned 100!

One wish down, one to go! Since Hoover brought back the Constellation, for me, that wish has already been granted. I totally agree about the Convertible on the wish list. Rex, you hit it squarely...no plastic - ever! How about brushed stainless or even chrome as a finish? The pearl white on...

    My Brand New electrolux Intensity

Interesting new Electrolux design Boy Skip, that is a unique vacuum. I haven't yet seen them at my local Lowe's. I assume the handle collapses for storage (like the HooverZ)?. I can't tell by the pictures on the carton, but does this come with attachments?

    kirby or dyson

Good points Fred I don't want to hijack this thread, since it is a Kirby vs. Dyson thread, but thought I would bring up a few points. Young people ARE the future of this and other collectors' forums. It can be a challenge, but patience and guidance will enable them to learn and appreciate not...

    The best chirstmas ever!

Rainbows... I have to admit, I absolutely love my Rainbow. Despite the water factor, I find it quite easy to use and maintain. There is something that is satisfying about seeing and dumping the "mook and yitka" after vacuuming. Of course, there are things that are better left for other vacuums...

    My first vintage vac!

Heaven, I'm in heaven....... Veg: Congrats on becoming a full-fledged vac addict!! That green DAM looks terrific, and I know from my limited (Austin won't let me use them) experience and hearsay (Austin says they work great - hrmmmmmph) these are wonderful, timeless machines. Once again...love...
