Happy Friday!

I will be visiting my aunt with my brother tonight and going to church on Sunday. Besides that nothing other than some housework and R & R.

Hope everyone has a safe weekend whether its productive, recreational, social, or a mix.

Was planning to go to the local No Kings rally Saturday but it looks like it will rain all day. No complaint, we need the rain ( I live in the high desert ) but the goatsheads, also known as the puncture vine, in my yard are going to go wild now : /

Are they invasive?
Native to the western US but they take over your yard and because the seeds can survive in the ground for up to seven yeas they are just about impossible to get rid of.

I spent many years in the transportation industry working through holidays, nights and weekends.
I've done this (not many holidays though) for a long time. When I was younger and single (no family) it didn't bother me much.

I am conflicted wanting to travel and also being home. Perhaps I was Odysseus in a former life :ROFLMAO:

Bosses came and went in the retail grocery industry. Including myself. I tried not to make enemies, and remember where I came from. You attract better/more flies with sugar than salt. Those whom you see on the way up, if you eff up, you will see them again on the way down. Employees don't like pricks.

I had business owners I worked for who were cheating customers, their suppliers sometimes, cutting corners on safety and falsifying documents and cheating the taxman who expected me to do dishonest, even illegal, things because well the boss said so. I couldn't do it. It drains your soul to work for dishonest people. My married co-workers were stuck. They couldn't say no. I could, and did.

Some interesting jobs. Some bosses cause the business to have a high turnover of regular workers.
A FedEx Ground terminal I once was an entry level manager at had a 250% annual turnover of package handlers. That drew some HR involvement but consider the acceptable turnover rate was 150%. Manager turnover was 20% a year. I lasted four years there. You get tired of managers above you shouting out their office door as you walk in for your next 12-14 hour shift, "YOU, get in my office now" so they can ream you out for something ( because you learned not to ever answer the phone at home knowing the very same manager would call you at 9:00 am after you finished work at 4:00am to yell at you, and it gets old to have a sort manager get in your face and poke you in the chest with their forefinger while blowing your hair back with a stream of F-bombs.

Where I was employed before middle level supervision, we were union. If a manager reamed us like that or it was unwarranted, the steward intervened. If they had to call in a rep., they would ask if you were on time for work, did your duties to the best of your ability and knowledge. If so, the repremand was filed as harassment.

The ironic thing is that the managers we had who came over from union shops like UPS or the old Roadway Systems were the worst for cussing other employees out. The guy who used to poke me in the chest simultaneous with a torrent of F-bombs was from UPS by way of ConWay Systems. HR was useless so I just told HR the next time he did that I was calling the police and filing charges. That ended the problem ! But I have seen fist fights and package handlers from different gangs throwing gang sign language across the warehouse at each other. A couple of the female package handlers got into a gnarly brawl one night gouging and hair pulling. Crazy place to work but I had to put food on the table and a roof over my head so I sucked it up.
