The transportation industry is populated by more dicks than a nudist colony. And not just the transportation companies but the places we delivered also had a bunch of hard nosed jerks. I used to joke about every place having what I called the "duty A-hole". Every place had that one guy who was a complete buttinsky and that you wanted so bad to just beat the daylights out of.
But I got my revenge with the next to the last one I worked for who tried to make us all sign a paper saying we were going to be "independent contractors", which would relieve said employer from the need to provide workers comp insurance, pay into unemployment or even collect income taxes from us. We'de be on a Form 1099. Funny thing was at the bottom of the "agreement", to which I disagreed was a line for "Employee Signature". When I refused to sign the employer took me off the schedule. So I marched into their office and said they had two choices. One, put me back on the schedule as an employee and quit effing with me or two, I will file for unemployment and I dared them to challenge it by saying I was fired or quite voluntarily. I told them I wanted nothing better than to get them in front of the administrative law judge and explain their "agreement". Then I told them after filing for unemployment I would have a chat with folks at the Franchise Tax Board, Workers Compensation Board, Employment Development Division and then I would go talk to the IRS. The state authorities were very interested, swarmed the place and within two months the company was gone. I don't know if any of them were arrested but I got my revenge that time.
