Hello. I just got a Eureka 1784B and Im looking for a couple of the onboard tools and the clear plastic cover. Any leads- particularly for the tool storage cover- would be very welcome!

I have a Brandywine similar model 1279 from 1980. Still hums like new. Powerhead too. Vibragroomer I.

They are on eBay. Poke around using different terms in the search window. I see those attachments all the time.
Btw, great vacuum. They clean well and run forever. I run one of those pleated dome shaped pre-motor filters for Pro-Team back pack vacuums on mine. I also trim the mounting card of an Electroux OX synthetic HEPA dust bag to fit the Eureka bag mount and run that. Between the two the machine stays clean inside and there is no dust except maybe an infinitesimal amount of carbon dust in the exhaust, but no household dust.

Finding a lid might take a few years ! I had to stalk eBay for literally over a year to find one for my 1748b. Most are broken in use. In my case a whole tool tray with the lid turned up. It happens but you have to patiently stalk eBay daily and be ready to buy the instant one goes on sale.
Something else I made up for my old Eurekas was a longer hose with a modern Plastiflex handle. I took a Patriot 8 foot hose, replaced their weird proprietary spout ( it has a weird taper that doesn't fit other wands and their button lock doesn't line up with any standard wand ) with one from MD Central Vacuum ( $11 including the suction bleeder ring ) and replaced the Patriot / Tristar metal canister hose end with a Eureka hose end. The Eureka hose end to my great surprise is still available new. I had to heat the hose cuff in hot water and pry with a couple of screw drivers to break the glue and dig the metal hose end out but gluing the Eureka end in is easy enough. Then I bought a central vacuum upper wand with cord control, made the opening in the cord control square with a file to fit the rectangular plug on the stock Eureka power cord and now I have a nice long hose with an on-off switch for the power nozzle and no more pig tail connection from the hose to the wand. Neat and modern. Best, you haven't changed anything on the vacuum or the power nozzle. Just a different upper wand. Old school modern I call it.

Yes, the clear plastic cover will be a challenge to find, but when you come up with one, you'll have a great sense of satisfaction. You're lucky the rest of your tool holder appears to be intact. They are notorious for breaking over time. I have a cinnamon model 1746A, on which the tool holder is pretty well totaled, and a brandywine model 1279D that is intact, except for the loop for the crevice tool. I need to super glue it back before it breaks off completely.

The suction is disappointing as compared to our 20 year old Dyson and 25 year old Kenmore. Also the “seal” between the bag and the hose inlet is really not very good. Does anyone have a photo of theirs? I feel like something is missing to make that seal better. We had a Ward’s version of this vacuum years ago but I just can’t remember the bag inlet seal. I just remember it had enough suction that I could hang it off my arm, Lol.

There should be a round foam seal on the inside of the lid around the hose opening that seals everything. If the seal is worn you can replace it with the thick foam seal used on modern Kenmore and Titan bag mounts. The bag sits against a steel plate and the lid with the foam seal closes down against the bag, sealing it. Mine have very good suction.
